PFTV ponders Tom Cable, again

We thought that the off-field issues relating to Raiders coach Tom Cable were concluded with the decision not to prosecute him on charges of fracturing the face of defensive assistant Randy Hanson.

But with last weekend's ESPN report featuring a former Cable wife and a former Cable girlfriend who claim that he committed violence against them, the problem isn't going away.

PFTV tackled recently the complex issues that the NFL and the Raiders now face.

Saw this discussed on ESPN2 yesterday and the point was made that there appears to be a double standard in the NFL and that had this been a player, that the NFL would have been all over this.
    I've got to agree.

Still want to know how a man gets his jaw broke in a heated discussion and no charges are filed.

It would be nice to see you address the issue of why you are pushing so hard for the league to investigate/suspend Cable for something he has not been charged with. These are all allegations, no charges have ever been filed. And why you're not insisting that the NFL do a seperate investigation of Big Ben when there have been charges filed. Yes they are civil charges, but not even civil charges have been filed against Cable.

I think that the Raiders have a point when you look at ESPN's involvement that way also. ESPN refused to report the Roethlisberger situation for fear it would harm his reputation even when civil charges had been filed. It wasn't until they were called to the carpet that they relented. Now, Cable has been accused, not charged and not only do they not care about his reputation, they conduct an investigation to find these women willing to come forward 20 years later???

It's ridiculous, where is the Outside the Lines report and interview with the woman accusing Ben of rape? Both cases involve the violation/abuse of women, but ESPN only focuses on Cable.

And where is NOW, demanding the Steelers suspend Big Ben until his civil case is cleared up? Not saying he's guilty, but at least there is an actual legal proceeding going on.

THAT seems like a double standard to me.

Cable seems like the type of guy that punches, slaps or shoves anything that gets in his way.

Mr. "short fuse" is lucky to be coaching in the NFL.

A couple of weeks ago, ESPN, pontificator emeritus Mark Schlerith stated that he was a former college teammate of Cable's at Idaho and knew what "kind of man he is and the type of character he has." Seems funny, since the allegations of women beatings have surfaced, I no longer hear Schlerieth commenting on Cable or his character. C'mon Stink, your pulpit is getting lonely.

"I'm going to ruin your life, if it's that last thing I do!"...even if it takes me 2o years!
Alas, Tom, the chickens have come home to roost. The Witches of Eastwick have banded together to neuter you.
Now, I'm not saying he shoulda hit them, but (in the words of Chris Rock) I UNNERSTAN'.
Revenge is a dish best served 20 years later, AFTER the D.A. found there wasn't enough evidence, I guess.
What part of "...if it's the last thing I do..." is too difficult to understand? The part that she had been spurned, & found "TomKat" with another woman at 3:00 am? Or the part where Cable "lost it" because the other 'ex' cheated on him?
Not a single article about Roethlisberger's consensual Vegas vacation from ESPN, yet they seek out the the story of vindictive vipers, years after the fact & after the DA cleared Cable. (As if Cable isn't hanging himself at 2-6.)
Some unkown Andrea McNulty trying to blackmail a 2 time Superbowl winning QB is NOT a story (somehow), but 2 women literally coming out of the woodwork years later with an axe(s) to grind IS a story?
