In a surprise move, the Baltimore Ravens have decided to sit nose tackle Haloti Ngata for today's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Adam Caplan of Scout.com tweeted that Ngata is inactive.
Ngata was listed as questionable with an ankle injury, but he said this week that he felt good and expected to play. He was seen on the field this morning obviously favoring the ankle, though, and that apparently made the Ravens decide to give him a rest.
Ngata has started every game since the Ravens drafted him in
2006, and he's one of the Ravens' most important players, particularly
against the run. His absence is good news for Bengals running back Cedric Benson.
Full Bengals-Ravens inactives are at NFL.com.
