Pat White finally makes his presence felt

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano recently suggested that rookie quarterback Pat White hasn’t been — and won’t be — getting a ton of work in the Wildcat package because of the fact that the season-ending injury to quarterback Chad Pennington has bumped White to No. 2 on the depth chart.

“The reason why his snap count is down is because he is
the next quarterback,” Sparano said.  “Our quarterback got sacked six times [Sunday], so
you could be the next one really fast if you keep that stuff up.”

And so, obviously, White is making a major contribution from the Wildcat package.

In a game-tying touchdown drive, White ran for 33 yards and then four yards before handing the ball off to running back Ricky Williams, who took it 15 yards to paydirt.

The game is currently knotted at 10.

C’mon man, White was running the option, not Wildcat. It ain’t rocket science.

White didn’t “hand” it to Williams…he ran the option and made a perfect pitch at the last second, letting Ricky run free into the end zone.

On that 33 yard run, Banta-Cain ran right by him trying to pick up the pitch.

i have to say it is cool seeing an NFL team run the option play. it makes the NFL almost as exciting as the NCAA.
