If the Titans get a boost to their return game this week it won’t come from Chris Davis.
They released the wide receiver on Friday, a few days after re-signing him to compete for the kick returner job. Davis was with the team in training camp but was released after getting arrested on a DUI charge in August.
Running back Alvin Pearman will handle kick return duties against the 49ers on Sunday afternoon, although Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports there’s a chance Davis could return for a third go-round if the team chooses to go in another direction in the future.
The Titans promoted offensive lineman Fernando Velasco from the practice squad to take Davis’s place on the roster.
