Panthers linebacker Davis to miss season

Thomas Davis started his Panthers career at safety, but he found a home as a hard hitting weak-side linebacker.  Carolina’s second-leading tackler will now miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL suffered against New Orleans Sunday.

“He’s played very well and I feel bad for the young man because he’s put
a lot into it and he was playing at a high level,” coach John Fox said.

ESPN’s Merril Hoge say Sunday that no unit in the league has improved more during the season than the Panthers defense, and he’s got a point.  Davis, Jon Beason, Julius Peppers, and the entire secondary has been playing at a high level for the last month after a slow start.

Look for Landon Johnson to replace Davis in the starting lineup.

Doesnt matter, I wish they would fire Fox this week.

Worst news of the season. The Saints ran all over Landon Johnson when Davis went out. This long season just got longer…

Significant injury that is frustrating. The guy’s finally understanding the NFL linebacker position and he tears his ACL.
I wouldn’t doubt if you saw the Dan Connor suck up some of the playing time. I think Panthers would really like to get a good look at this guy on the field

If Davis had been on the field the entire game, N.O. may not have had such a great shot at getting a win. After Davis was injured pressure on Brees was considerably less.
    Losing him hurts.
