Ryan Clark's replacement off to a good start

Veteran safety Tyrone Carter, who filled in earlier this year for Steelers strong safety Troy Polamalu, has gotten the nod at the free safety position on Monday night, due to the sickle-cell trait that has prompted the Steelers not to play Ryan Clark.

And Carter has made the most of his opportunity.

With the Steelers trailing by three, the Broncos appeared to line up in their version of the Wildcat.  Then, quarterback Kyle Orton went into motion and lined up for the shotgun snap.

Then, Orton threw the ball right into the waiting arms of Carter, who returned the ball 48 yards for a score.

As Mike Tirico of ESPN pointed out, the Steelers now have three straight defensive scores, dating back to the fourth quarter of their last game, on October 25 against the Vikings.

As ESPN failed to mention after watching several replays, the ref unintentionally took the receiver off his route. The ref didn’t do anything wrong, but as announcers, aren’t they paid to notice the ref and receiver collided, and as such, the receiver couldn’t go through his route?

I am surprised the commenters missed how the ref got in the way on that play. Orton’s pass was actually on the mark.

I am surprised that the announcers missed the fact that the referee got in the way. Orton actually made a good pass on that play.

So Mike Tirico said Tomlin and Clark and all other interested parties got together on Thursday and decided he would not play – YET HE WAS STILL LISTED AS QUESTIONABLE????
I can’t believe the cheating Steelers. I think this travesty deserves losing a first round draft pick or something.

I’m suprised that the announcers didn’t comment how Harrison was MUGGED on that play, without a flag. It is so common now that they don’t even bother to comment on it anymore. Dead issue I guess.

Mostly unrelated to this particular play, but how long, Broncos fans, do we have to watch Shanahan-era flyweight Ben Hamilton fail to do his job at OG?
This guy is responsible for most of the pressures Orton gets – at least twice tonight and counting, including a sack. He can’t hold his ground against linebackers and has been targeted by the Steelers (who know how to find weaknesses) all night. He has never been able to move the pile in the run game – how are our RBs faring tonight? How did they fare last week?
I’m tired of watching this undersized weakling get tossed around. Put in Olsen or Hochstein – it can’t be worse than this.

IM not surprised this is a steeler butt kissing web site.

The refs handed the steelgirls there last soupbol.

    Brady’s GayLover said this:
“So Mike Tirico said Tomlin and Clark and all other interested parties got together on Thursday and decided he would not play – YET HE WAS STILL LISTED AS QUESTIONABLE????
I can’t believe the cheating Steelers. I think this travesty deserves losing a first round draft pick or something.”
I guess when Tirico says something – to Patsy fans – it must be written in stone. I guess, there is no room for Clark and Tomlin to CHANGE THEIR MINDS?!?!?! Hey Brady’s Gayboy, unlike the Cheatriots, the Steelers play by the rules. Listing him as questionable was totally appropriate as there was a 100% possibility that all parties could change their mind and for Ryan Clark to suit up with the Dr’s blessings.

@BradyGazelle … The Steelers reported Clark’s status when they were required to report it and not one minute before–just like the other teams do. Would you, TRAMO, and the other crybabies like to borrow a Terrible Towel to wipe your runny noses after all your whining?

  12. Sinjin187 says: Nov 9, 2009 11:49 PM

Boo Hoo Hoo… TRAMO and BradyGazelle please stop crying. The Steelers just beat the crap out of the Broncos and didn’t need the refs help or Ryan Clark’s for that matter. Just hang your heads, put you tail between your legs and bow out with some dignity. Steeler Nation is rollin on!!!!

I’m tired, so maybe my vision is blurry and I’m just seeing things, but is BradyGazelle (Probable – Shoulder) actually whining about non-New England teams supposedly fudging the injury report? Is this anything like BradyGazelle’s contention on the Dallas Clark post that the Colts should be in trouble for using him like a wide receiver (aka, using him too effectively)?
Those cute New England fans. You never know what they’ll come up with next.. but you do know that it will be moronic.

I knew the hate would be flowing tonight after a big W against the Donco’s…..
That’s what comes with success people….we gotta learn to deal with it.
Even at home the Bronco’s never stood a chance. 27 yds on the ground…that’s absolutely lovely….vs. almost 200 for the Steelers. I said in another post, Steelers get the run going they don’t get beat…by ANYONE.

While you guys were so busy seeing what you thought the announcers missed, you missed the key part of the play yourselves. On the Orton interception the Steeler’s Chris Hoke knocked the receiver off his route and that is why he ran into a stationary official.
Both Jaws and Gruden commented on the play made by Hoke which knocked him off his route and set up the interception.
