Slim's season is over

Bengals wideout Chris "Slim" Henry wasn't lighting up the box score this season, but he was enjoying the most peaceful time in his career.

Given yet another last chance by the Bengals, he was staying out of the news and reportedly showed good work habits as Cincinnati's designated deep threat.  (Henry averaged 19.7 yards on his 12 catches.)  Now Henry will have to show he can stay out of trouble without football taking up all his time.

The Bengals placed Henry on injured reserve Monday, ending any questions about whether his broken forearm would end his season.

Cincinnati is still deep enough at wide receiver.  Laveranues Coles has finally started to produce the last two games, and Andre Caldwell has 29 catches on the season, including three very big touchdowns.

Henry is a free agent after this season.  While he's rehabbed his value and shows off dazzling skills at time, we suspect that the Bengals will be able to re-sign him if they choose to.

Man that sucks. He's a great threat in our offense. I hope he rehabs well and comes back strong. I'm sure the Bengals won't hesitate to sign him again. Unless of course they think this injury will really effect his play after it has healed which I doubt. We'll see. Get well Slim! We'll miss you! Just relax and enjoy watching the rest of the team carry us into the playoffs!

    I met a little girl
    In a country town
She said, "What do you know?
    There’s Slim Harpo!"
    Didn’t move her head
    Didn’t move her hands
    Didn’t move her lips
    She shook her hips

Big Loss. Everything happens for a reason. I hope him the best and hopefully we can resign him because for all you haters out there you would all love to have this threat on your team. If you dont then your loss and our gain/. Lets resign him. And everyone else, watch out for Maurice Purify. Hes a beast. That is one position we are not light on. We'll miss you Slim on the way to a deep playoff run!

I refused to root or cheer for Henry until he was clean for a year. Sometime last year, I became his fan again. In fact, I kind of had a soft spot for him, all the mistakes he made, the willpower and wherewithall to make a change in his life to become a mature adult, I rooted for him more than most of the Bengals. Once I saw his broken arm on replay, I felt pretty bad for the guy. Those who follow the team as much as I do could tell how much he had changed and even with a slow going season, he seemed to really turn his life around, which is something I can really get behind in a Josh Hamilton sort of way. Hopefully he gets a good contract next year with either the Bengals or someone else who can push him a little further up the depth chart and hopefully he continues to stay clean and does well in the league.

Bungles re-sign him ?Yeah, you're right. The market for overpriced head cases isn't strong right now.

hey goetta-head. bengals resigned Kooistra. not Purify. so it's looking like they trust Simpson to do the job over Purify. god knows why b/c I sure don't.

Thats a shame for someone who worked hard to turn his life around. If the Bengals don't resign him... he would look good in blue and silver. BB can handle him.

Too bad for Slim... Bengals should activate Chase Coffman and unleash the next Dallas Clark. Coffman was a freak reciever at Mizz. Time to see what he's got. We can always use Quan Cosby as the 4th receiver if needed.

    Hap,
    Overpriced?
Chris Henry was making league minimum.

    And BenglasDOuche,

Yea just caught that. Purify still might get the nod from the practice squad if Simpson still isnt ready yet. I would expect a healthy competition for the spot although, Coffman a la Dallas Clark is an interesting proposition even tho I dont think they will entertain the thought.
