Brett Favre said it best in his southern drawl when he was in the midst of a 3 game skid when everyone was calling for his and Holmgrens head (remember the “joined at the hip” comment?) Holmgren was ridiculed by people too and all turned out well. Not saying the same thing is going to happen here but stop going bananas. Favre used to say “The on thing thatll shutemallup is a win” Green Bay beats Dallas Sunday and you all will be singing a different tune breaking out your playoff scenarios. Dont deny it.

Hey thanks Rulz! From what they tell us she is perfect. Depending on where you live you may take that back in 20 years if you knew her parents. Anyway, I will leave you guys alone as I seem to be rthe only one not giving up and believing this team has more talent then the rest of you. No use arguing. So nice to come across a post by philtration, erin rodgers, easydrinkingbuschlight, bobnelson, fire ted, etc. I mean you just know they are so full of shit that you can just scroll right on by them. Saves so much time.
Now Bob,or Fire Ted, I’m not talkng to you here, but the rest of you guys mentioned above, please try to make your posts a little longer so we can scroll a little further and get on with reading some posts from folks that actually know a little about football.
Supersuckers–hope all went well with your new “sprout”. Great stats but I just can’t see it happening this time around. The new “regime” are just not putting the right guys in the right places, refusing to admit their mistakes and make adjustments, disregarding FA & drafting busts.
Can’t see us beating Dallas or Balt or Pitts. After last week I’d say all the other games are toss ups.
I just hope Aaron survives the year and something changes off season. I know Murphy said he’s waiting ’til season’s end but I at least hope he’s got his rolodex out.

Yeah, you are right Super, and now you are stuck with a crap coach and an even crappier GM for the next 2 years at least.
How you don’t understand the talent level isn’t there compared to the 95 team, I don’t know.
This was a wasted 2 year span( so far) (may be 4-5) and you should be pissed off about it.

If I was Favre, I wouldn’t have wanted to come back, either.
It is a shame (and I am a Viking fan) that Favre didn’t spend his entire playing career (no one counts that first season in Atlanta) with the Pack. It’s obvious that he is not washed up. If they hadn’t wasted that pick on Rodgers, they could have drafted OL talent. They could have picked a QB in 09.
Sitting on the bench obviously did not work well for Rodgers. Josh Freeman looked like the more poised QB last Sunday.

Super: Outside of the difference in coaching( i dont ever recall Holmgren teaching blocking technique in week 8) acumen, Holmgern also had 1 of the best football minds in Ron Wolf drafting for him. Ron Wolf also brought in several key free agent aquisitions.
Mumbles has TT drafting for him and TT outright refuses to consider free agents of any merit.
We discussed before that Wolf said you have to hit on 55% of your draft picks(approximate). That is with bringing in FA’s with some starting talent.
TT , if he isn’t bringing In FA starting talent, needs to hit on draft picks by 20-25% higher than stated 55%. That is virtually impossible.
He’s not even hitting Wolf’s number!
His arrogance in his “talent evaluation” is part of the undoing of this team. It must be trickiling down because Mumbles is pretty arrogant in the fact that he thinks he can fix this mess that they created.
The 95 Packers team had several more things going for it than the current version.

God bless you for being a fan of your team, but you are being unrealistic in your asessment of the 09 Packers.
That 13-3 record was an abberation -easy, easy schedule, every bounce went their way etc. It happens to teams from time to time.
The OL is the biggest difference 95 Favre sacked 38 times, rodgers is 1 off that thru week 9!!!
That falls squarely on the sunshine boys of TT and MM.

So, according to you, TT and MM’s Packers are on the cusp of becoming a World Class Organization? Mmmmmmkay.
Chickenfoot is 100% right.
Numbers are for politicians and spinsters.
Any idiot can see this team is a mess.
Favre’s 4 TDs at Lambeau was the nail in the coffin.
It’s not about Favre. It’s about a talented group of players who need a leader and don’t have one.
It all started downhill when Holmgren left.
Rhodes, Sherman, they didn’t have it. Neither have Head coached another game in the NFL since.
McCarthy is the same. Lame Duck. He’s blaming the players. His system is perfect and his staff is filled with “expertise.” He’s lying to himself, and he’s just realized the job is a lot harder than it looks.
MM is just another draft bust. We need an Elite Free Agent Coach (Cowher, Gruden, Shanahan, Holmgren, etc,) or a hell of a draft pick (McDaniels, Peyton, Tomlin).

That 95 team had an O-line, and decent ST.
You can’t look to history and expect that just because it happened 14 years ago, it’s going to happen again.
2 tottally different teams, with totally different mindsets.
09 packers are the most undisciplined team I have seen in a long time.
Holmgren is a much better coach than Mumbles by a long shot.
By the way, you heard it hear 1st…both WC’s coming out of the East.
Packers season went up in smoke last week-end.

Holmgren first three years (27 wins) 2 playoff appearances. Furthest his teams went was to a divisional round
McCarthy first three years (26 wins) 1 playoff appearance. Furthest his teams went is overtime of NFC Championship game.
Year four under Holmgrem 5-3 after 8 games THEN lost game nine to go to 5-4 and STILL ended up in the NFC title game losing a close one at Dallas. This was all with the your magical favre at the helm. Here is another nugget. Yancey Thigpen dropped a gimmie pass with no one around him with 9 seconds left (yeah you remember) that gave Green bay the division that year. If green Bay can muster up a win at home agains Dallas that put McCarthy at 5-4 in year four of his regime.
I’m not saying McCarthy isn’t on the hot seat because I think he is. What I am trying to do is show you a comparison of what you all seem to go to as your argument. Wolf and Holmgren and favre. As you can see. The wins and losses are about equal. Holmgren had one more playoff appearance but McCarthy got them farther.
Everyone pushing the panic button after week 8 is being ridiculous. Luckily Murphy has come out and put a little pressure on the staff with his statements. but he has also said he’s been around the NFL long enough to know what can happen. Thankfully he is in charge and not one of you knee jerkers.
I don’t know about everyone else but back in the aformetioned Holmgren years there wasnt too many of these moron blogs but I do remember the FIRE WOLF cries right around this time in 1995. relax poeple and let the season play out. As you can see from above

Probably because it isn’t. Quote stats all you want, they’re still irrelevant. This is a team sport, the only real statistic that matters is wins. I personally haven’t seen a whole lot of those. Woo hoo, they can stop the run. Gilbert-sized bunch of good that does when a QB making his NFL debut can drive down the field and score at will.
I especially loved the shot of Harris directly calling out said rookie QB after breaking up a pass, just to get thrown at and beaten on the very next play. What an overhyped loser. McCarthy needs to tell him not to talk again until they win a few or he finally plays a penalty-free game. Either that or bench him. Tramon has a lot of upside, and he at least can keep his mouth shut.
Bottom line, Gilbert and Leroy both make some very astute (albeit obvious) observations. Maybe one of them can be our new GM. I honestly don’t think anyone save Millen and maybe Carl Peterson could be any worse than what we have now.
Judging by his comments yesterday, I feel unless we somehow win out and make a run now, Murphy is ready to can both Ted and Mac after the year is over.
I really hate losing like we have been, but at least it should mean no more Ted after this season, and a lot less Bob Nelson in the meantime. You gotta take the good with the bad sometimes…
