Report: Texans favorites for Larry Johnson

L.Johnson.jpgNFL Network’s Jason La Canfora has an idea where Larry Johnson might land.

“The Houston Texans are showing persistent interest in Larry Johnson and it’s a place Larry Johnson would be comfortable and right now they have to be considered the favorites,” La Canfora said on NFL Total Access Tuesday.  (Here’s his accompanying tweet.)

He later said, “It seems like at this point something would have to fall apart between the Texans and Larry Johnson for him to go” elsewhere.  Washington and New England were mentioned as other possibilities.

The Houston connection is interesting considering a missive from ESPN’s Adam Schefter from a few hours earlier Tuesday: “And now we start eliminating LJ landing spots: No more Houston — Gary Kubiak’s team sticking with its backs,” Schefter wrote.

Not a lot of wiggle room in those reports.  The information man on information man violence doesn’t end there.

Some people spending/wasting time talking about LJ wanting to go to Steelers,” La Canfora writes.  “But they have no interest in him. Moot point.”

Watching to see where Larry Johnson will land is proving to be a lot more entertaining than watching Johnson play football.  (Unless you love watching 2.7 yards and a cloud of dust.)

UPDATE: Schefter is steadfast. He tells PFT: “Larry Johnson has as much chance of playing for the Texans as I do.”

Do you think Larry Johnson is smart enough to see his last paycheck out there on the not-so-distant horizon?
    Nah, didn’t think so.

Jason La Confora is wrong…Johnson won’t be going to Houston, New England or Washington.

I’ve never seen this much media coverage for an old, injury-prone deuch bag.

Maybe the Texans could recommend LJ purchase his home in the Montrose area of Houston…… :)

I thought he was going to New England???

  6. WTE says: Nov 10, 2009 9:08 PM

    No EShine,
Florio first reported that LJ was against going to New England before he reported that he was for it.
    See,
    He’s for it.

injury-prone? one has to try to make yards and induce contact to become injury prone.
the only injury johnson has is backblast from spit he aimed at women.

LaCanfora is no Schefter – NFLN did itself a disservice by letting Adam go. I’ll buy what Schefter says over Jason any day – LaCanfora said Andre Smith would be a huge factor for the Bengals last week. He was inactive for the game, Mr. Information!
As far as LJ is concerned, the last thing a young inconsistent team like Houston needs is a locker room cancer. See Shaun Alexander regarding what happens to an aging RB who’s lost a step and has an attitude problem. Shaun didn’t have the off-field issues like LJ, but my instinct says Larry doesn’t get a sniff unless a playoff contender loses a starter.

I’d go with Schefter on this one. The Texans already have a relatively big, upright RB that runs with no power whatsoever: Chris Brown.
If the Texans really want a RB there are better free agents out there.

Who wouldn’t want his 2.7 yards per carry, 0 TDs, unwillingness to block, hands of stone in the passing game, and lips that won’t stop flapping with ignorance?
    Let the bidding begin!

With Larry Johnson and Chris Brown, the Texans would have the market on woman-beating RBs cornered!

Based on that cigar, he sounds like a Robert Kraft man. If he brings some liquor with him, even more.

    2 Questions
How fast is Schefter’s 40 time, and can he hold onto the ball? On 2nd thought..neither are important when it comes to the Texans.

Why doesn’t anybody want this fag?

jason la canfora, you’re sure doing a lot of damage here to your reputation as you try to become a schefter or mortenson or glazer.
you’re becoming the man of dis-information … as for me, i won’t be trusting anything you say. i’ll go with the guys who know their stuff, don’t reach, and have the experience and contacts in the league to inform us.

    Holla.
The Texans aren’t ready for prime time WITH or WITHOUT, L.J.
    Regards,
    The Texans idiot kicker.
