Colts tight end Dallas Clark, Steelers safety Tyrone Carter, Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski, Saints defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove and Bucs return man Clifton Smith have all received player of the week honors, the NFL announced today.
As we previously noted, Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner was named NFC offensive player of the week.
Clark earned AFC offensive player of the week honors for his 14 catches against the Houston Texans, which tied a franchise record. Clark picked up 119 receiving yards in a 20-17 win over the Texans as the Colts ran their record to 8-0.
Carter, who was filling in for Ryan Clark, intercepted two passes and returned one for 48 yards in a 28-10 win over the Denver Broncos on Monday night to earn the AFC defensive player of the week award.
Gostkowski went 4-for-4 on field goals in a 27-17 win over the Miami Dolphins. It was his first career special teams player of the week award.
Hargrove had two fumble recoveries, one of which he forced, picked up, and returned for a touchdown to seal the Saints’ come-from-behind win over the Panthers. He also had three tackles, doing enough to earn his first NFC defensive player of the week award.
Smith had 161 total return yards, including an 83-yard kickoff return and a 19-yard punt return. He also contributed three tackles in kick coverage and earned the NFC special teams player of the week award.
