Clark, Carter, Gostkowski, Hargrove, Smith are players of the week

Colts tight end Dallas Clark, Steelers safety Tyrone Carter, Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski, Saints defensive tackle Anthony Hargrove and Bucs return man Clifton Smith have all received player of the week honors, the NFL announced today.

As we previously noted, Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner was named NFC offensive player of the week.

Clark earned AFC offensive player of the week honors for his 14 catches against the Houston Texans, which tied a franchise record. Clark picked up 119 receiving yards in a 20-17 win over the Texans as the Colts ran their record to 8-0.

Carter, who was filling in for Ryan Clark, intercepted two passes and returned one for 48 yards in a 28-10 win over the Denver Broncos on Monday night to earn the AFC defensive player of the week award.

Gostkowski went 4-for-4 on field goals in a 27-17 win over the Miami Dolphins. It was his first career special teams player of the week award.

Hargrove had two fumble recoveries, one of which he forced, picked up, and returned for a touchdown to seal the Saints’ come-from-behind win over the Panthers. He also had three tackles, doing enough to earn his first NFC defensive player of the week award.

Smith had 161 total return yards, including an 83-yard kickoff return and a 19-yard punt return. He also contributed three tackles in kick coverage and earned the NFC special teams player of the week award.

Gostkowski got me more fantasy points than Heath Miller and Calvin Johnson….COMBINED! Thanks for picking up the slack, Gost!

Even though it was in obsucrity, Colquitt from KC had a hell of a day punting for KC.

What’s probably just as important that is lost in this is Gostkowski’s kick off blast through the uprights well away from Ginn Jr.
This kickoff was after the Pats were penalized and kicking from their 25 yard line…

The Packers special teams are just as responsible for Clifton Smith’s numbers as he is. Not to hard to get 3 tackles on special teams when you’ve got Ahman “I’m trying not to break a hip” Green returning kicks.
I’m glad they lost this game – now the heat is on and people aren’t settling for the BS McFlurry spews every week about pad level and personal matchups.

Gostkowski, the guy who made us forget about the unforgetable No. 4, whatshisname….

Anyone else ever notice that specific players get singled out by Lord Florio? Farve last week, Warner this week just to name a couple………Not hard to figure out what names generate hits and which ones do not…….
A REAL reporter/blogger wouldn’t do things like that. He/She would know that just the title alone would generate hits.

I agree that Gostkowski was just as likely picked for the multiple touchbacks as for the field goals.

    _______
Yeah, that guy with ONE MORE SB RING than Tammy Brady…and FOUR MORE SB RINGS than Gots-kow-shitti.
Typical move by New England sports fans like you, in that you all have ZERO loyalty to any players who have played for your teams in the past.
    GFY, PoorMoron2256.
Somewhere, Adam Vinitari is laughing at fools like you.
