Favre is limited in practice with “hip” injury

Browns coach Eric Mangini is famous (notorious) for describing in his injury reports ailments arising in any portion of the leg as merely a “leg” injury.

But Vikings coach Brad Childress has taken Mangini’s methods a step farther, describing a current groin injury to quarterback Brett Favre as a hip injury.

Favre’s groin injury was called a hip injury in the reports issued prior to the Week Eight game at Green Bay. Now, after the bye week, Favre is listed on the first report prior to Sunday’s visit from the Lions as being limited in practice with a “hip.”

Last week, during a mostly straight-faced monolgue regarding Favre’s pre-game groin manipulations, Childress tried to explain that the hip and the groin are basically the same thing.

Receiver Bernard Berrian (hamstring), linebacker E.J. Henderson (knee), and cornerback Antoine Winfield (foot) practiced on a limited basis. Linebacker Jasper Brinkley (hamstring) and receiver Darius Reynaud (hamstring) were listed on the report as full participants.

For the Lions, defensive end Dewayne White (toe), linebacker Larry Foote (knee), and linebacker Ernie Sims (hamstring) did not practice. Defensive tackle Joe Cohen (ankle), linebacker Jordan Dizon (neck), fullback Jerome Felton (ankle), defensive end Jason Hunter (knee), defensive tackle Grady Jackson (knee), and quarterback Matthew Stafford (knee) practiced on a limited basis. Receiver Calvin Johnson (knee) fully participated in practice.
