Gholston injured at walkthrough practice

Gentlemen of New York and New Jersey, start your punchlines.

Jets linebacker Vernon Gholston was injured Monday during the team's walkthrough and missed practice Wednesday.

"I don't know yet," Gholston said, when asked about his status for this week. "We'll wait and see."

The Newark Star-Ledger says that the injury may do Jets coach Rex Ryan a favor by giving him an excuse to plant Gholston on the bench.  Valuable special teamer Marques Murrell was inactive last week and could have more value to the team.

Gholston had the first three starts of his career this year when Calvin Pace was suspended, but he's been nearly as invisible as his rookie season with only 11 tackles and no sacks through eight weeks.

No wonder folks are trying to dodge blame for drafting him.

Even if he misses a game, no one will notice. Another fabulous product of THE Ohio State University.

The good news. Gholston finally registered a sack.

The bad news. It was himself.

They are getting ready to put him on IR so they can free up a roster spot since he is a waste of a roster spot.

Jests picked Gholston at #6 and Pats took Mayo at #10.

    Biggest bust of 2008 draft!!!

Gholston is already forgotten but not gone. I hope he didn't piss away his rookie contract.

Gholston will go to the Steelers and become a lights out OLB or 3-4 DE.

    Just wait.

Did Rex punch him in the jaw - err - I mean, did he fall backwards and break his jaw or something? Ya, that's it. Did he fall - you know - backwards?

I'm a Steeler fan, but I have to say that's a pretty ridiculous statement.. It's not like Gholston is playing for some bum D-Coordinator. If Rex Ryan can't do anything with him, I doubt anyone could, even LeBeau.. You can't polish a turd.. See: Alonzo Jackson.. Gholston's playing OLB in NY, and never could be a 3-4 DE..

Whatever happened over the summer when Ryan said he was going to take Gholston under his wing that he had the makings to be a great LB.

The Jets have made some poor draft choices over the years but this one ranks right up there in the long line of flops.

Poor Draft Picks...yea nice, Revis, very poor draft pick right? Keller? Mangold? Brick? Thomas? oh and some guy named Namth...Verdict is still out on Sanchez, but def not bad, look at the lions...

    Injured during a walk-through???

Man, that Rex Ryan must run one tough practice. Must be why they suck so bad on Sundays, they're all worked out.

    Ease up and win, coach!
