Titans receiver Justin Gage likely will miss some time with multiple fractures in his back.
But it’s not as bad as it sounds.
Coach Jeff Fisher disclosed the condition on Thursday, and he said that Gage is unlikely to play Sunday against the Bills, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.
The breaks occurred in the “transverse process” — the spiny bones that stick out of each vertebra.
Surgery won’t be needed, and the specific duration of Gage’s absence isn’t known. Typically, the bones heal within a couple of weeks.
Gage suffered the injury on Sunday against the 49ers. He caught four passes for 97 yards during the game.
#1. The transverse processes of each vertebra are not “the spiny bones that stick out of each vertebra”. Those are termed, shockingly enough, the spinous processes. The transverse processes are parts of the vertebra that extend off the side of each vertebra.
#2. Most likely Gage suffered the injury when he made one of the most amazing catches of the season by jumping about 50 feet in the air.
“But it’s not as bad as it sounds.”
Umm, yes it is. I think what you meant was that he wouldn’t miss a great deal of time, but it hurts like hell.
He made one of the best catches of this year: past present or future. Hope he gets well soon.
