L.J. not meeting with the Cowboys, yet

Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star accurately has sniffed out that running back Larry Johnson is in Dallas.

But a league source tells us that Johnson is in Dallas for a social visit only, and not because he’s meeting with the Cowboys.

Yet.

There are, per the source, no plans to meet with the Cowboys.  And it’s not known whether the Cowboys are or will be interested in Johnson.

Most likely, the Cowboys aren’t currently interested.  But they’ll likely become interested fairly quickly if one of their top tailbacks becomes unavailable.

And it’s not just an injury that might make the Cowboys or some other playoff contender instantly interested in Johnson.  As we saw yesterday with the Joselio Hanson situation, player suspensions often come out of the blue.

So the right move for Johnson — and the approach he’ll apparently follow for now — is to wait and see what happens.

It’s not as if he needs the money; the Chiefs already are paying him $2.14 million over the rest of the regular season to not play for them.

Now WHY in the world do you think that Dallas would consider LJ ? Ya’ll are wayyyyyy off on this one. Your source is not credible IF he thinks Dallas is considering him at this point.

Yeah yeah, nothing to see here folks, move along…..
Come on, fish for a story much? Dallas has 3 excellent running backs. Not like they need to waste their money on this washed out has been.

its pretty obvious; LJ is trying to solve once and for all the JFK conspiracy since he has this unforeseen time off. he’s starting with the 3 tramps.

    Yeah, this is great journalism…
“But a league source tells us that Johnson is in Dallas for a social visit only, and not because he’s meeting with the Cowboys.”
So when he returns back to Kansas City after the “social visit” will the headline read, “But a league source tells us that Johnson has returned home to Kansas City, and not because he’s meeting with the Chiefs.”

Now that LJ is in Dallas, it is safe for our women to leave the house. Please let us know when he is back, so we can lock our doors.

2.14 Million covers 6 months of ballin at best. He should get back to running if he wants to be able to keep smacking bitches as clubs past the age of 34.

Keep fishing boys. None of the running backs are injured or are getting suspended. Come on, find something else to talk about. Is Brett Favre boring to you guys now? This is pathetic.

Maybe since nobody wants him, him and Mark Cuban are going to buy a team for him to play for.

    ****
Dallas would consider LJ because their running backs are fragile. It is not too farfetched to think Dallas could end the season with T. Choice and LJ.

Because Florio is a hack. That is all.

LJ is done, his agent can hype him visiting every team in the league but the fact remains no one wants him. He is a locker room cancer waiting to spread.

  19. Scoop says: Nov 12, 2009 4:01 PM

As fashionable as it is to suggest that LJ is in this position for uttering homophobic words, the reality is that he’s unemployed because he called out another coach and has no concept of the idea of ‘team’. Maybe I’m wrong, but such a theory begs the question as to why a winning team with Marion Barber and Tashard Choice would have any interest in the man. Extropolating that theory out, one might conclude that this is another ‘headline’ in the tradition of the 80′s penny-stock firms, who perfected the concept of creating their own ‘markets’. I generally like the Florio and PFT vibe on things, but I think you’ve been successful enough to stop turning mountains out of molehills for sport…
    Just a thought.

Haha, Florio, I just love it when you get people all riled up like that. But really, what’s next? Timmy Smith in Washington to visit the Smithsonian with Dan Snyder?

    No, they won’t.

  22. AirlineGuy says: Nov 12, 2009 4:28 PM

Dallas would need THREE RB’s to go down before needing LJ.
Besides, LJ’s mom lives in Dallas. Story solved, and that took all of about 3 seconds to debunk.

  23. Bill In DC says: Nov 12, 2009 4:39 PM

Wow, can you cram anymore innuendo and baseless rumor mongering into one post?
This should be put up for some sort of award somewhere. It good that you’re not actually, you know, journalists.

  24. Derrick says: Nov 12, 2009 4:40 PM

Dallas has one of the deepest stables of talented young running backs in the league in Barber, Jones and Choice, they have ZERO interest in LJ.

  25. dr.g says: Nov 12, 2009 4:59 PM

“they’ll likely become more interested if one of their tailbacks becomes unavailable”…In other news…….if your aunt had nuts she’d be your uncle. I know you need Cowboys posts to drive page views, but this is grasping.

  26. Vaxman says: Nov 12, 2009 5:03 PM

Dear god, I hate Dallas, but let’s be real here… WTF would LJ do for the cowboys? They got barber until his toe hurts, jones will blow up for 10 yards a carry until his vagina acts up, and tashard choice just hasn’t been exposed yet, but as far as a triple headed monster goes they are solid and will do whatever they need to do. What would LJ do? Run way too upright to the hole n get rocked? Or wait, wait… Maybe teams might make him change direction a lil bit so he falls like a ton of bricks like brandon Jacobs gets exposed every week?? Please, LJ is done…

Facts vs. opinions… LJ has many lousy traits, but he still has some wheels left if he can get behind a good O-line. Somebody without one shouldn’t even think about pickin him up. Truth is he’s still better than 60-70% of the backs in the NFL right now. There is nowhere to run behind the KC O-line. They are horrible at run blocking. I’m a Chiefs fan, I have seen this with my own eyes… but I’m still glad to see him out of here!

60-70% of the backs in the league? OK, let’s split this one down the middle and say 65%. 65% of 32 is 20.8 so name 21 running backs he’s better then. Shouldn’t be that hard.
Oh, and RBs who spend most of their time on special teams, do not count.
