I don’t know what will happen on Sunday with the Steelers and the Bengals and I know your comment about them not wanting to wake the sleeping giant was somewhat tongue in cheek, but one thing you didn’t mention is that even though this Steelers team is better than the one that followed Bill Cowher’s demand to blow out Carson’s knee, this is also a lot better Bengals team than their ’05 edition.

Mike Florio Says: “Enter the Cowboys. Last year, Dallas won at Lambeau Field — the site of 1967′s Ice Bowl — for the first time ever. Their 6-2 record is arguably a little inflated, and the ‘Boys might be ripe for a beating.”
I would love to hear your argument on how the Cowboys record is anymore inflated than any other 6-2 team. Jesus you are dumb.

ROFLMAO! Your Cowboys hate knows no bounds, does it? It’s influencing your judgment in analyzing games.
If the Cowboys 6-2 record is ‘a little inflated’ then what is Green Bay’s record? Green Bay has not beaten a team with a winning record, the best they have is Chicago at 4-5. They also own wins over these powerhouse teams – Cleveland, Detroit, & St Louis. They’ve lost to every decent team they’ve played and they just lost to Tampa Bay, letting Tampa rack up 38 points on them. Clearly the Pack is back.
Dallas now owns wins against 2 playoff teams from last season who both sport winning records this season and close losses to the other 2 teams they’ve played with winning records.
I’d think that last week going in and beating Philly in Philly would render them some respect, but apparently not.

Jaguars are 4-4 and Jets are 4-4: This is a playoff game. Win, you’re still in position. Lose, you’re just collecting a pay check for the rest of the year. JAGS, it’s time to show and prove. All year long you’re up and down. Beat the teams you’re suppose to beat and beat the teams that match up well with you and WAH-LAH you’re playoff bound. So what’s it going to be?

I’m kinda liking Florio continuing to pick against the Cowboys.

  6. Citizen Strange says: Nov 13, 2009 12:57 PM

IMO …. in 2005 there were teams taking blatant pot shots at Roethlisberger’s knees … one example being the Chargers …. and I remember a Bengal linebacker… Odell Thurman?… taking a seven step top spee unabated run before spearing his helmet into Roethlisberger’s knee.
I always thought that Kimo’s grab and twist on Palmer was just quid pro quo.

  7. CornFlorio says: Nov 13, 2009 1:00 PM

Contrary to what Florio suggests in his article, I highly doubt that ANY AFC team is EVER rooting for the CONFIRMED CHEATER Patriots. I’m pretty sure that EVERY AFC team would have NO problem with seeing Belicheat and the rest of the slimeball Patriots organization sink back to the bottom of the league, where they deserve to be. I KNOW that the rest of us NFL fans would welcome the deafening silence that would result from this, given that the massive Pats bandwagon fan contingent would also sink back under the rocks that they emerged from in 2001 (kind of like the deafening silence after the Super Bowl two years ago). EIGHTEEN AND D’OH!!!!!

Speaking of the Ravens v Browns Monday nighter, I was looking through the channels last night and realized my 4 o’clock game is the Chiefs v Raiders. I live in Michigan, and watch the Lions every Sunday, how do you make the Chiefs Raiders my other game?

  9. Hap says: Nov 13, 2009 1:07 PM

Yeah, it’s Flo up to it again. He’s always there to remind us of the Cowboys shortcomings (reference to Ice Bowl) . Yo Flo, see The Cowboys THUMP The Eagles last week ?The Dallas Cowboys are in 1st place in the NFC East and it’s chapping Flo’s butt. It doesn’t look like your Eagles are gonna make The Super Bowl, Flo. The same Super Bowl that Dallas Cowboys have WON 5 times. HOW ‘BOUT THEM COWBOYS !

  10. chapnasty says: Nov 13, 2009 1:13 PM

    @ Cornflorio
I dont think anyone outside of Boston wants the Patriots to ever win anything.

  11. Bill In DC says: Nov 13, 2009 1:20 PM

    Vox,
Florio is starting to remind me of a DC radio guy in the Cowboys 2nd Superbowl run in 93, who, if Dallas was 6-2 would proclaim “They’re going 6-10, I can feel it”. The next week it was “They’re going 7-9, I can feel it.”

  12. CurseofBoJackson says: Nov 13, 2009 1:45 PM

IMO, 2005 was 2005, let it go, it has no bearing on 2009. That said,
“So while on the surface the Bengals would surely love to complete a remarkable sweep of the Ravens and the Steelers, it might also be a good idea not to wake up the monster again — especially since this version of the Steelers is a lot better than the one the Bengals beat in 2005.”
Wow, assuming this is somewhat of a joke I’ll let it slide, but it’s bunk all the same, lazy writing. And further, as someone else mentioned, this Bengals team is also WAY better than the one in 2005, mainly due to the defensive prowess and ball control offense. So please, Bengals, awaken the sleeping giant who apparently slept through an a*^ whipping of the Broncos.

    Keep loving them Cowboys….
What’s more impressive PFT? A Dallas 6-2 record in November?
Or the 4703 days its been since Dallas has won a playoff game.
Something tells me Vox is going to go missing again in January….

“I would love to hear your argument on how the Cowboys record is anymore inflated than any other 6-2 team. Jesus you are dumb.”
I will make the argument for you:
Current 6-2 teams and the combined record of the 6 teams they have beaten:
    Cowboys: 18-30
    Patriots: 18-30
    Steelers: 22-26
    Bengals: 23-26
    Broncos: 26-22
Just for fun. The teams with records better than 6-2 and their combined opponents records of the teams they have beaten:
    Vikings (7-1): 19-38
    Colts (8-0): 27-39
    Saints (8-0): 29-36
Of all teams with a 6-2 or better record, only the Broncos have beaten teams with a winning record. If you back out the losses inflicted on the opponents by the respective teams the only teams with “winning” opponents records that they have beaten would be, the Broncos, Steelers, Bengals and Saints.
When you look at the opponents records the Vikings, Cowboys and Patriots have the worst quality wins of all the elite teams.

I was going to say the same thing shinsake.
And why would the Bengal fans be cheering for the Pats? I’m cheering for whoever is playing the Colts, Broncos and Chargers. I will take a opening round bye, followed by a home game. Then I will gladly play the Colts in a dome for the AFC Championship. Especially considering Indy is less than 2 hours away from Cincy. I’d much rather go there than head to Foxborough in the middle of January.

    @ SF Saints Fan
Good points and I would agree with you. However, my point would be to Florio is that if you are going to claim the Cowboys are inlfated then you have to account for the other teams as well. He thinks the Patriots are the best thing since Chipotle Burrito’s and is all over Favres vag finally. But well articulated, not something you see much on here.

  17. whodey5 says: Nov 13, 2009 2:25 PM

oops, I meant to say whoever is playing the Pats, Broncos, and Chargers.

Florio can be a little bit of a tool at times. He knows if he puts negative comments about the Cowboys or Eagles he will get comments and page views and if he puts positive comments about the Vikings/Favres and the Patriots he will get comments and page views.
I don’t know if he likes or dislikes any team and I have been unable to figure out who his “home team” is. You would think the Steelers, but he is from West Virginia and hates the University of Pittsburgh, so I would guess he is a closeted Bengals fan.

With the personal emails I’ve sent back and forth with him over the years about the errors he made in the Chad Johnson ’05 locker room blowout (I had an inside source whom is beyond reproach), I can confirm that he is definitely not a Bengals fan, not even a closeted one…unless that closet is waaaay deep.

    NFC East = Extremely overrated
