Former Raider Teyo Johnson stabbed at concert

A second-round pick of the Raiders in 2003, tight end Teyo Johnson has been quietly continuing his playing career in the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders.

His career and his life nearly met a tragic end early Friday morning after an altercation at a concert in Calgary.

“I didn’t even know I got stabbed until the cops got there,” Johnson
said. “One officer showed me my blood on his hand
and said, ‘Hey, you’ve been stabbed.  [Medical staff at
Foothills Hospital] told me another centimeter or two and I would be
dead. Luckily it hit my hip bone and went up about eight centimeters
instead of straight through into my intestine.”

Johnson is “very doubtful” to play in the Stampeders playoff game Sunday.  The police have no suspects in the stabbing.

    “Hey, you’ve been stabbed”
Youre right……But, I saved a lot on car insurance!
    (just had to say that)
Of course, police have no suspects. There are Raider Haters even in Canada!

Either he’s playing a real tough guy cause, well he wants to look like a cool tough-guy by saying “he didn’t feel it” or he was seriously influenced by something other than alcohol, ’cause if you get stabbed you feel it, but if you get stabbed and the blade hits a bone, you sure as hell feel it..

you’d figure he’d have a better chance of being stabbed at a raiders game…
in all seriousness, hope the guy recovers well and continues playing.

Why was Johnson at a concert so late? Listen, I’m all for players having lives outside of their careers, but this is Calgary Stampede football we are talking about here. I don’t want players who are not 100% dedicated to their craft and perfecting what it means to be a ‘Peder. If I were coach, or “Ol’ Coach Pigskin” as Stampede Nation refers to him, I’d send this guy out on the streets of Calgary without hesitation.

Nah, often people will suffer a serious injury and not even realize it’s happened. You always hear stories about people getting shot, and not knowing it until they see the blood on their clothing. It doesn’t mean you were on drugs.
Your body kicks in immediately and suppresses the pain to buy you time for escape. It’s a survival mechanism.
He was probably pumped up on adrenaline because of the concert, too.

Yesp, that’s what happened in Monty Python:

Another for the PFT fetish for dumping on the Raiders. Teyo also played for the Cards, Dolphins, Broncos and Bills. Yet if something bad happens it’s “former Raider”.
Jerry Rice was a great 49er, but if he was to go out and knock over a QuikStop, you guys would instantly call him Former Raider robs QuikStop.
Then again Teyo was a Raider and He’s felt more pain just being a Raider than just getting a little poke in the hip.

That, and people complaining BUT still going to the games. And posting like they know all athletes…. do you know how many NFL athletes contribute to charitable causes and work in the Community through the players association, the United Way and other NFL based programs?
    thought not.

or maybe because he was drafted by the Raiders in the second round and spent a majority of his NFL career on the Raiders he’s being called a Raider..? (24 games as a Raider, 6 as a Cardinal). And because he practiced/was on their pre-season rosters, doesnt mean he was a dolphin, bronco, or a bill.

Let me simplify a bit for the slower fans,
Michael Moore’s point was that violent crime is caused by America’s love for the gun. In other countries where people don’t own guns like here, there is no violent crime to worry about. People don’t lock doors, nothing more than a fist fight or two to worry about. So, his point was that if nobody in America can own a gun, we won’t have to worry about violence.
