Saints' Tracy Porter suffers ACL injury

The New Orleans Saints ran their record to 9-0 today with a win over the St. Louis Rams. But it may have come at a heavy price.

Saints starting cornerback Tracy Porter left the game with a knee injury, and Jeff Duncan, the Saints beat columnist for The Times-Picayune, tweets that Porter’s injury looks like a season-ender.

On the first play of the second half, Porter suffered what is being described as an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday.

Saints coach Sean Payton wouldn’t discuss the extent of Porter’s injury when he addressed reporters after the game.

Porter, an athletic second-year player out of Indiana, has started all nine games for the Saints this season.

Bummer, but I do like hearing about a Hoosier football player succeeding in the NFL
    …hope he bounces back!

Damn 2 years in a row. I guess Malcom Jenkins better be ready.

Porter was having a Pro Bowl-like year…bad break for the Saints! I remember him being a Gerry DiNardo recruit when he was at Indiana.

Too bad. Porter was playing at a Pro Bowl level.
Jenkins really needs to step it up. Porter was playing at a very high level last year before he was injured. Time for Jenkins to earn his keep. This was the one area of the team where I had my greatest concern because with an attacking style of defense the corners really need to be able to cover and have make up speed. Greer and Porter were playing well at the position.
Porter will be ok, but it will be tough to be ready by the beginning of next year because that is less than 10 months away. Hopefully you will have a Super Bowl ring by that time…..
Good luck Porter. ACL rehab sucks. I know, I’ve been through it. Get the surgery as soon as possible. The first month is the worst of it, after that, it is all downhill……..
