At a time when officials are bending over backwards to protect quarterbacks, it's good to know that they're also willing to protect the guys who otherwise are trying to decapitate the guys who throw passes.
After throwing his second interception of the night, Browns quarterback Brady Quinn dove, Sanchez style, at the knees of Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs.
Quinn drew a flag for an illegal low blow as Suggs writhed in pain momentarily on the ground.
We've got a feeling that, if Suggs or Ray Lewis get a clean shot at Quinn, he'll be writhing in pain for a lot longer.
After a scoreless first half, Ravens lead midway through the third quarter, 16-0.
UPDATE: Per Aaron Wilson, Suggs won't get a chance. He has a knee sprain, and he's doubtful to return.
Cheap shot from Brady Quinn sends Suggs to showers

Hey, Cleveland Fans
Still happy with getting rid of K2?? He's got 42 rec. 454 yds. and 5 tds on a team that just found their qb. LOL
Thanks for the Sargent...Freeman's gonna need him...
While Brady hit his knees, he was actually aiming for his chest.
HAHAHAHA
Suggs is a dirty thug so who cares.
Do you mean Favre style?
However at least someone has an update for Suggs since these stupid announcers are too busy playing go fish.
def a cheapshot. The Ravens aren't playing as well as I hoped but damn the Browns suck. Why aren't they at least trying to throw deep???
INT, INT, personal foul.

Florio, it's called a "low block," not an "illegal low blow." Also, that wasn't necessarily a "cheap shot" by Quinn. A lot of low blocks are committed by QBs and WRs because, well, they don't know how to block.
damn, I missed it. I wouldn't worry about Quinn's safty in reguards to retaliation. enless the Ravens shop at the store Quinn will be baging groceries at next year.
hey florio,
so your saying, Brady gave Suggs a dirty Sanchez shot?
Anyone see Suggs talking sh*t to Quinn in the first half after an incompletion? I applaud Quinn for standing up for himself.
the mighty quinn!!!!
what a lousy QB. The couple of throws that were over 15 yards were so inaccurate that the DB's may have been the primary receiver.
so much for all the Quinnbots out there.
The Browns are in a race with the Rams for the right to draft Colt McCoy.
Suprised Brady didn't completly miss him like he does with his passes, I guess he is good at hitting the other team though.
I could of sworn that was Brett Favre on the field throwing himself at the defender. I then noticed that because of how bad the play was it could only be the Cleveland Browns.
Way to lose with class, Browns. Calling a jailbreak play down 16-0 with 5 seconds left. Last image on MNF was Cribbs lying on the ground hurt. Dumbass Mangini, why not just run it out with 20 ticks left, you fool.
Meh. I didn't quite see the shot, but damn, the Ravens only scored 16 against the Browns? That's pathetic.
I'm glad the defense showed up today.
Quinn sucks...
His team around him sucks also, but he isn't a starting QB in the NFL.
The Mighty Quinn strikes back!
Dirty, third-tier city? Check.
Terrible players? Check.
No one in the stands? Check.
Lousy coach that other NFL teams reject? Check.
An embarrassment to football? Check.
Are we sure the Browns aren't the missing UFL franchise???
NOW I'm done...
So where are all of the Quinn defenders now? I was wrong about him though. I said he would get 3 points on the Ravens.
Why wasn't Suggs departure from the game mentioned by the announcers? I could see he was missing but there was no indication as to the extent of an injury. Instead we were blessed with vintage video of Jaws stumbling through a wild cat play and "little Chuckie's" pee-wee highlights.
I am driven to the point of rage that Mike Florio would use be so willing to exploit the well being of a young man such as Terrell Suggs for the sake of profit. My condolences to the family of Mr. Suggs for this embarrassment being inflicted on them, and the endless sorrow that accompanies it.
Did Quinn ever attempt a pass beyond 10 yards? ppdoc said 15. That must have been after I dozed off.
The NFL should suspend Quinn for a game to show it's serious about protecting players. That is the second most dangerous play in football--the low blow to an unsuspecting player--and after the Favre fiasco in the pre-season it should be clear that a play like that is inexcuable. When you go low like that you are basically trying to hurt someone.
To call the b.s. roughing the passer penalties the league does and not take strong action against something that really is pointless and dangerous is just ridiculous. 15 yards and a fine is not enough.
"Hey, Cleveland Fans

===============
How many games has he helped them win? Isn't he the highest-paid TE in the league now? Surely, he has them in the super bowl this year, right?
Lets not put all the blame on Quinn's inability to complete a pass. The receivers were missing dropping balls left and right, and the interceptions for TDs went through the hands of the receivers. The Browns will no doubt be going after a RB during the draft and some protection for the QB.
Idiots.
Did you watch the play? He dove at Sugg's waist/thighs. Suggs planted his foot as Brady impacted him and it tweaked his knee.
It was not an outright dirty, cheap play.
At any rate, Brady sucks goat balls.
If you are going to bang on the guy, at least be accurate.

Suggs is a dirty thug so who cares.
And you are an ignorant hillbilly. Now, get off your daughter and go to bed.
They need a QB in Cleveland... The question is which one? Anderson cannot throw the short pass and Quinn really really cannot throw the deep ball. I am not sure Colt Mccoy or Tim Tebow will be much better than the 2 clowns they have now. Draft Sam Bradford ? With two shoulder injuries in the last year ? With a top five pick ? I don't think so. Let's hope Claussen and Locker are the real deal.
@outragedpftfan ...
You think the PFT posters who objected to Florio covering the suicide of Drew Brees's mother are stupid. Yeah, we got that the first time you posted something mocking the reaction to Brees's family tragedy. We also got that you're a jackass. You don't have to keep pressing the point by going on to every article on PFT to post your asininity.
T. Suggs is nothing but an overpaid thug.
It was a punk play. Suggs was in the middle of the field away from the action and the pussy quinn dove at his legs. didn't bother going after the guy with the ball, he dove at the legs of a player who was not looking and was outside of the play. if the shoe were on the other foot, suggs would be suspended or fined a pileful of money. quinn is a punk and a twinkie. his arm is a rag. watching him throw a couple of "bombs" 10 yards out of bounds and closer to the Ravens bench then a Browns WR its no wonder he only throws check down passes. He'll be out of the NFL in a year. Hell he won't last as long as Kyle Boller.
Gotta love Quinn! He's a underthrowing, film studying fool, but he's got guts! Can you believe Denver is rumored to be interested in this guy?
He has no heart, like the cowardly lion ... or whatever.
Sincerely,
Travis Johnson
LOL ALL THE HATE FOR QUINN..LOL APPARENTLY MOST OF YOU ARE "STAT" LOVERS,AND NOT AWARE OF THE SITUATION..YOU COULD PUT ANY QB OUT THERE N THEY ARE GONNA HAVE FORCED THROWS,AND INTS,,THAT O LINE IS HORRID.I FELT BAD FOR QUINN.HE HAS NOTHIN TO WORK WITH ..
LOL@A LITTLE OLE QB TAKEN DOWN THE BIG BAD WOLF SUGGS..LOL AND SUGGS HAS DELIVERED THE SAME LOW BLOWS BEFORE AND NO FINE...HE WILL BE FINE,STOP WHINING.
LETS NOT FORGET THIS IS THE SAME TEAM WHO TOOK OUT A "BOUNTY" ON A UNPROVEN ROOKIE RB (MENDENHALL) ..RAY LEWIS ..SCUM BAG ANYWAY.
Steeler-lady - ever hear about the cap-lock. Its a key on your computer.
are you really comparing a hit below the knees on a player outside of the play to Ray breaking Rashard Fumblehall shoulder on a clean tackle?
Of course you are. You have the dirtiest player in the NFL as voted by his peers - Hines Ward. The king of the cheap shot.
Now take that phallus like structure on your Steelers blowup doll out of whatever orifice its in and use the two synapses they allow to Yinstown fans and find the CAP LOCK KEY on your computer.
"@ Deb", which appears to be the parlance of our time.
I don't know if you've noticed this, but roughly 95% of comments on PFT are ranting lunatics who find something to complain about when nothing is there. I intend to continue to parody these people, who clearly have no idea what the definition of a news story is and feel it necessary to cry foul, as if Florio has somehow violated any reasonable guideline beyond "I'm a commenter with poorly-defined morals! And you offended them! I do believe I have the vapors!"
Deb, I'll also be sure to add your "hey, don't post this way because I said so as I, Deb, am obviously the most important person on the Internet and if you violate my delicate sensibilities, may God have mercy on your soul" act on my list to mock.
If this somehow makes me a jackass, so be it. At least I'm not a judgmental hypocrite who feels the need to soothe my own ego by sobbing about the (falsely attributed) immorality of others.
Sorry if I used too many syllables and not enough obscenity for your taste, Deb. I'll try to do better in the future.
@outragedpftfan ...
You're right. Crap.
Had been jousting with a lunatic then jumped to a suicide-related post. Didn't think Florio needed to cover because it's not football related, but it happens. Was more annoyed by some typically uninformed comments about suicide.
Then kept seeing your posts. Long night. Sensitive subject. Foul mood. Bad combination.
Knew the point you were making. Not a bad point. But every time I saw it, I linked it with suicide. Your point = ridiculing suicide situation = jackass you.
I know, my math doesn't compute. Came back hoping you didn't notice my post. You did.
Mea culpa.
It's all right, Deb. I'm similarly sorry if I came off too harsh. A lot of the initial reaction to the Brees post was over the top to me, hence me doing the parody posts.
I don't think Florio pulled a TMZ or whatever - there's pretty much four parents of current NFL players whose reporting of their death, by itself, would be noteworthy enough for a post. Archie Manning (obviously), Kellen Winslow Sr. (ditto), Donovan McNabb's mom (those commercials) and Drew Brees. Brees' mom is notable because of how she tried to (allegedly) harm her son's career. It's not like, say, the passing of a parent of Owen Schmitt or Ikechuku Ndukwe was reported on. A lot of people reacted like Florio had, which seemed very unreasonable to me.
@outragedpftfan ...
Well, I can't blame you for being harsh when I called you a jackass LOL It's not the first time I've done that to someone on PFT, but usually it's deserved! I don't object to him reporting the death--just the cause of death that I'm sensitive about. I've seen firsthand how media attention to a suicide and public speculation about it can affect a family that's already reeling with questions of their own. But I don't think Florio is scum of the earth for covering it. Some people do get carried away. I usually save that kind of righteous indignation for discussions directly involving my team :-)
