The New York Jets have announced that defensive line coach Kerry Locklin has indeed left the team.
Per a team-issued release, Locklin's duties will be assumed by defensive assistant Jeff Weeks.
"It is a mutual decision that Kerry no longer will be with us," coach Rex Ryan said. "I will be overseeing the entire defense as I always have with [defensive coordinator] Mike Pettine. We felt it was the best thing for both of us moving forward. This is a sensitive issue. The timing is unfortunate but I felt this was in the best interests for both of us."
Why do we have a feeling that there could be a broken jaw floating around somewhere in all of this?
[Editor's note: Our legal department has advised us to point out that we have no evidence that Locklin suffered or inflicted a broken jaw. Or any other type of injury.]
