Rams receiver Keenan Burton out for season

By now, it’s surprising when the Rams don’t suffer a serious injury at wide receiver on any given Sunday.

Keenan Burton was the latest victim of the injury bug in St. Louis and will miss the rest of the season because of a patella tendon injury that will require surgery.

A fourth-round pick in 2008, Burton started six games for the Rams this year after replacing Laurent Robinson. He finishes with 25 catches or 253 yards.

Look for former Eagle Brandon Gibson to get Burton’s starting job.

Acquired in the deal that sent Will Witherspoon to Philadelphia, Gibson led the Rams with seven catches and 93 yards Sunday. It was an impressive display for a rookie and indicates that the Witherspoon deal could ultimately help both teams.
