Bucs bring back Arron Sears

Bucs guard Arron Sears has been away from the team for months.  No clear answer ever was provided for his absence.

Now, just as quickly as he was gone, Sears is back.

The Buccaneers have announced that Sears has been “reinstated” to the team.  He had been placed on the reserve/did not report list in late July.

“We welcome Arron back to the team,” G.M. Mark Dominik said in a team-issued release.  “Throughout this process we have remained in close contact with Arron and his agent, and this is a good opportunity for him to integrate himself back into our football team.”

There were rumors and speculation that Sears had been suffering from post-concussion syndrome and/or clinical depression.

A second-round pick in 2007, Sears started 16 games as a rookie and 15 in 2008.

Isn’t there a date in November where if you report you get credit for the year for free agency and maybe pension? Sounds like this is what may be happening?

What abucsfan said. I’m surprised Florio didn’t bring this up.

This is great news, he was a stud LG in the making. I like Zuttah and all, but he will be an excellent swingman/backup. Sears is a solid, solid LG and will really strengthen the line again as a whole. The best young line in the NFl just got better.

Just outstanding!! Our depth is decent, but Sears has been missed greatly.
Things are finally kindof falling into place.
With JF learning as lead, and more looks going towards SS…then (hopefully) taking a serious look at energizing both off and def coord positions, along with the early draft pics we’ll have to load up the D line…
May just have to build a bigger bandwagon for next season, yup.

    Abucsfan:
It doesn’t really matter, the deadline would have been week 11, as a player has to be active for 6 games to get credit, but with Sears being only in his 2nd season, free agency is an eternity away either way.
I heard it was depression too, though I am more likely to believe that Sears has the ability to see the future… and he saw how pathetic they’d be this season and became depressed.
