The Chargers are on the road this week in Denver, but fans in San Diego may not be able to watch their next home game on November 29.
Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that 7,300 tickets remain available for the Week Twelve game against the Chiefs. Only 200 have sold since Sunday, so the progress isn't promising.
The Chargers have a 44-game sellout streak, but even another second half surge by the annual playoff team may not be enough to keep it alive.

Do you guys take turns writing about a Chargers blackout before EVERY home game ? You could have a form column and just change the dates.
they regularly need companies to buy out thousands of remaining tickets, so it's really not all that shocking
Who has the longest sell out streak in the NFL? Green Bay?
What a joke. The Chargers have been .500 or better for almost 6 years and they can't sell out all of their games? Sounds like some fans are taking their team for granted.
Let them come to Buffalo and try to root for the Bills.
So now do we hear a whole bunch of nonsense about how Chargers fans aren't excited about their first place team and how they aren't sold yet on their competitiveness? Or will people finally start realizing that the economy still isn't going well and unemployment is going up, not down and people can't afford these high priced tickets anymore? Same thing is going on in Cincinnati and we probably won't sell out against Cleveland or Detroit.
I have a feeling that the reason people question how much local fans support their football teams has something to do with liberal sports writers not wanting to call attention to the economy doing well. Hmm, wonder why that could be....
Might be the 1st of many blackouts for the Kansas City Chefs; their 2 remaining home games in December against the Browns & Bills will certinly not sell out.
@virtualplague: I'm very interested to learn which companies are buying thousands of tickets for the Charger games.
Don't worry, I know you are talking ish and can't provide an answer because it isn't happening. You sir, are a fraud.
Sourdough: Not sure if you were serious with your comment or just joking around and I'm not virtualplague's PR firm here, but he's absolutely right. Without naming names, there are companies who have purchased large blocks of tickets for many years and then donate them either to charities and/or in San Diego's case to the military. The problem is, the economy is impacting all businesses and the discretionary funds to do this just aren't there like they've been in the past. Really shouldn't be too big a stretch to figure out which companies would do that.
They're having trouble selling out a game at the end of a holiday weekend in a down economy with the 2-7 KC Chiefs coming to town?
The Hell you say...

Wow. Really?
It wouldn't be a blackout for the Chiefs. Only for San Diego.

Hey Dipsnake, the economy is bad all over. What a pathetic conservative you are, blaming the liberal media for your team not selling out. I'm glad you're not a liberal. Hope you never change.
Don't worry your purdy little head, the Chargers will sell out. You can't blame some people for not wanting to pay for tickets just so they can sit in crappy located seats. Remember, this used to be a multi-use stadium, so not all seats are located in prime viewing position for a football game.
It has nothing to do with fans supporting the team, it has everything to do with those seat locations, and the age of the stadium.
If this was a stadium that was built just to house a football team, I would be more concerned.
You can't blame charger fans. Everyone knows that charger fans can only fill 70% of their stadium. It's actually the Denver Bronco's fan's fault for not traveling well enough to fill up Charger stadium. So the blame Bronco fans.
The crap teams should have to subsidize the good teams when the good teams don't get their average number of fans because they are hosting crap teams.
As a Vikings fan I hear this and sympathize for Chargers fans. Now you get to hear from everyone about how you aren't real fans or something stupid. Fact is it seems like many teams are having this issue right now. In reality I think moving a team to LA will eventually have this problem as well. Regardless I hope you beat the Broncos this week. I'm a huge LT fan.

The Patriots used to be one of those crap teams. They too at one time had huge stadium issues, and had problems selling out. Just wait until the Patriots go into a steady playoff drought, and we will see then just how many times they sell out their own stadium. It is amazing what a few SB wins does for stadium attendance.
I am a Chargers' fan, but it isn't the responsibility of the Chiefs fans to sell out Qualcom. The Chargers fans would be selling out the stadium if it were a true football stadium and not one of those multi-purpose stadiums. Seat locations make a huge difference, especially when you consider ticket prices.
@Raydahz: Who do you think you are kidding with your attempt at attendance smack talk?
The Raiturds are averaging 40,000 fans a game, their stadium holds 63,000 fans, 8,000 less than the Chargers Stadium. Furthermore, all but one Raiturd game has been blacked out this season, and that was a MNF game vs the Chargers to start the NFL season.
BTW: Didn't the Raiturds just lose to the Chiefs!?!
The patriots stadium issues were a bit before their sellout streak began. Bob Kraft bought the team in '94 and they've sold out every game since. When Kraft bought the team there was no chance of them moving.
Another Chargers home game, another story about failure to sell out, another 100 comments about horrible Chargers fans, and then another sellout by the Chargers, extending their streak. Same routine occurs every single Chargers home game.
@ Filbertkiwi71
Ahh Filbert, never missing a chance to slam the Patriots and their fans whenever possible. While you are technically correct, you grossly mischaracterize the situation.
The Chargers have had a stable ownership for quite some time. The Patriots had three disastrous changes in ownership in about 6 years, with one owner going bankrupt and being forced to sell the team, another instantly running the team into the ground, another trying desperately to move the team to St. Louis.
The Pats were wildly unsuccessful on the field, the Chargers have been one of the more successful teams this decade.
The Pats play in rain, wind and snow. San Deigo has perfect weather for pretty much every game.
So, if really not the same at all, is it? FYI, I *hope* that interest in the Pats dies off a bit and the bandwagon jumpers leave once they have a bad season or two, so I don't have to pay $200 for decent seats. However, I can promise you that they not be having any games blacked out for any time in the forseeable future.
@Sourdough
The Sycuan tribe which owns the casino has been the #1 buyer of large blocks of tickets to prevent blackouts. They buy the remaining few thousand tickets and give them to local military, police and fire departments. They've bailed out Charger fans at least a dozen times the last few years
UFL UFL UFL
so let me get this strait. The Chargers sell out roughly 65,000 seats in a relatively short period of time yet can't sell out the last 7500 seats, and in fact, only sell 200 seats in a couple days. you think it's about the fans or a stadium issue? GLARING stadium issue. Why is it ONLY the last 7000 or so seats that NEVER get sold out? hmmmmm. I'm pretty damn sure there isn't 7000 people in the US that would pay full price to sit in obstructed view seats, having to watch the game on the jumbotron, only by themselves because they are ONLY single seat tickets.
Glaring problems.
