Ravens sign Cundiff

The Baltimore Ravens have chosen a replacement for kicker Steven Hauschka, released Tuesday by the team.

The team announced Wednesday they have signed Billy Cundiff.  Often a kickoff specialist, Cundiff was perfect on field goals during a five week span on the Browns roster earlier this season.

Longtime Ravens kicker Matt Stover, who was the last remaining original Cleveland Brown still in Baltimore, was dumped for Hauschka.  He’ll visit Baltimore this week as a member of the Colts.  Stover has hit all six field goals for Indianapolis.

Forget all the other historical reasons for a Colts-Ravens grudge match.  This Sunday is all about the revenge of Stover.

Yes, I hope Stover hits all 7 extra points.

The Ravens my let the Colts score TDs so as to not have Stover kill them softly with his shoe.

For once, thank God that Peyton will slice and dice our secondary! With the points that the Indy passing game is likely to hang on us, this won’t come down to a FG shootout like the playoff game 3 years back. I couldn’t take Stover beating us on a kick or losing b/c we miss a kick. Oz is a genius with the draft, but his free agency moves have been awful. Dumping Stover, signing Carr, etc.

Any chance Stover can kick for both teams on Sunday…LOL!

Stover time! I can see this one already. The Colts will just opt to win with field goals – kick field goals everytime they get to the red zone even on 1st down or 2nd and Inches.

Maybe Stover can give the Ravens bench the double barreled salute, Bud Adams style, on his way off the field, after kicking the game winner…….

Ravens will upset the Colts, and Stover will miss one 48 yrd kick. Final score 24-20 Ravens based on one defensive touchdown in the 3rd quarter. I called it here first gentlemen!!!

    The headline should read:
“Ravens sign Browns ’09 Offensive MVP”
He had what, 18-20 points while with the Browns.

I expect the Ravens to release Cundiff and sign Stover when Adam Vinatieri gets better and the Colts release Matt Stover.

    ********
Yes – CBS has a “Stover Cam” lined up so everyone can see what he is doing on the sidelines at all times….since, you know, players rarely change teams…..
