Portis will miss second straight game

The Redskins announced Thursday that running back Clinton Portis will miss a second straight game because of the lingering effects of a concussion he suffered during the November 8th game against the Falcons.

Coach Jim Zorn told David Elfin of the Washington Times that Portis as “just foggy enough” for him to feel it was best to hold him out of practice. As a result, he won’t let his tailback play against the Cowboys.

“I want to see him practice and I want to see him have those days where
when he practices, he doesn’t have residual problems,” Zorn said. “And
right now, he can’t even practice so we’ll keep him out this week.”

That means Ladell Betts and Rock Cartwright will do the heavy lifting in the Redskins running game once again. That worked out well last week as they combined for 155 yards in the 27-17 victory over the Broncos.

The Redskins still have one more pressing injury matter to figure out before Sunday’s kickoff. Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was deemed a “game-time decision” because he’s still wearing a boot to protect his sprained left ankle.

With Andre Gurode lining up at center for the Cowboys, Haynesworth’s going to want to be at full health in case he decides to use Gurode’s head for target practice once again.

Maybe these concussions will result in a few more zany costume characters from Clinton. Oh Clinton, you’re such a stich. zzzzzzzzz Skins stink!

Good, CP hasn’t been right all season, they should sit him for the rest of these meaningless 7 weeks and try and get him back healthy and in shape for next year.

Not to worry, Haynesworth’s stomping foot is his right foot. He should be good to go…

    Grammar fail Josh.
There is no way to tell from this sentence whether Gurode used Haynesworth’s head for target practice or if it was the other way around (and it was the other way around). In fact, it really reads that Gurode was the stompor rather than the stompee.

What Zorn meant to say was, “Mr. Portis says we suck and he aint playin!”

Typo; no doubt what you meant to write was “Sherm Lewis won’t let HIS tailback play against the Cowboys”

I feel bad for Portis. It almost like the O – line doesn’t like to block for him b/c they are annoyed with the fact that he doesn’t practice. Players may be getting tired of his “special ” priviledges.
I used to big a BIG Portis fan- now I think the team should get rid of him. He has nothing left in the tank or the team is sick of him
Either way I am excited he isn’t playing this week and I hope for the rest of the season

I’m glad, as a diehard Skins fan I think Betts and Cartwright have played better than him this year, maybe even the past 2 years. Portis sucks now and I hope we bench him

agree, jopa, he sure isnt worth the $ anymore.
that’s what it boils down to. always hurt, attitude problem, not worth the $. should be a big chunk of an rbbc – sure.

And by ‘they’ I mean Sherm Lewis

Betts is fresh and looks much more powerful than Portis has all season.

It’s one of those things where a team should move on from a franchise player, but only realizes as much after that player is injured, and his speedier, younger cohorts accomplish what they couldn’t.
And I say this as a Dallas fan who hopes the Redskins fail eternally in hellfire. But I’m clearly alert to certain truths.

Betts is a fumbling machine and Cartwright is awful. Sometimes it’s tough cheering for the Skins when fellow fans think because one game we have our RB situation figured out.

Typo;no doubt what YOU meant was snyder told zorn portis doesn’t have to play or practice if he doesn’t want to

Nice swap Danny boy – a shutdown corner for a dime a dozen RB.
    DUMB!
Could be worse than the Roy E. Williams debacle in Big D.

I wonder if Portis will sit in Danny boys lap to watch the game.
