Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs expects to play again this year after suffering an injury when Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn took him out at the knees on Monday night.
But Suggs says he’s devastated that he’s going to have to miss a game on Sunday for the first time in his career.
“I’m really crushed that I’m going to miss my first game,” Suggs told Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun. “That [stinks].”
Suggs, who has played in 105 consecutive regular-season games since the Ravens drafted him in 2003, said he had a personal goal of equaling the accomplishment of Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome, who as a Cleveland Browns tight end from 1978 to 1990 never missed a game. Now that won’t happen.
Suggs didn’t come right out and say that Quinn took him out with a cheap shot, but he seems to think that’s what happened.
“That’s exactly what it felt like,” he said. “But I haven’t seen it so I can’t really say one way or another. I’m more upset that I’m going to miss this game.

I guess in the end only Quinn knows the answer to whether it was a dirty hit, but when you look closely at the line play during any football game there is a lot of action going on down low and many low hits go uncalled. How many times do you see a undersized cornerback diving at the legs of a big running back because they know if the tackle them up high the back just goes through them.
In the end there are a lot of “dirty” plays in an NFL game, because the action happens in the blink of an eye and some players stink at tackling. I don’t know how many times you see a blindside hit wipe a QB out after an INT- in the end how clean of a play is that? Yea, the QB should have kept his head on a swivel, but we all know this is the best time for the defense to get a free shot on a QB.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs insisted Friday the team did not have a bounty on rookie running back Rashard Mendenhall and receiver Hines Ward of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In an interview last week on an Atlanta radio station, Suggs was asked if there was a bounty on Mendenhall. He replied, “The bounty was out on him and the bounty was out on (Ward). We just didn’t get him between the whistles.”

I read a book by Baltimore author Jon Morgan about the Browns move. It basically blamed the city of Cleveland for not giving the Browns a stadium. I wanted to be fair, so I read a book by a guy who worked for the Browns and stayed in Cleveland. It was called something like “Fumble; the Browns, Modell and the move.” I figured he’d give me some perspective from the Cleveland side. His conclusion? He basically blamed the city of Cleveland for not giving the Browns a new stadium!

let ME break that play down for you: Suggs slid off a block, and went directly into Brady’s knees. He wasn’t “blocked into” them, he didn’t accidentally “fall” at them ….. he took a clear shot at them, and the ref with a perfect view saw it, and threw the flag (at least ONCE this season, one ref made one right call!).

Again Ravens fans are misguided. There was a ballot initiative to renovate old Municipal Stadium in Cleveland that was overwhelmingly passed by the voters of Cleveland just DAYS after Modell announced his “move”.
That’s right, he announced his move DAYS before a vote on a refurbished stadium and another sweetheart lease deal for his team in Cleveland.
Why?
Because some important people found out about his BACKDOOR agreement with Baltimore.
Oh, by the way, who’s idea was it to refurbish old Municipal Stadium? MODELL’S!
Want proof? See the Monday Night Football telecast and local pregame show from 1993 or 1994 where the Browns beat the 49ers 23-13 in Cleveland. MODELL talks on and on about what a GREAT plan it was and all of the improvements and imenities that would be added. MODELL made the argument for refurbishing the old house INSTEAD OF building a new one.
Then he announced the move DAYS before the very vote on the plan HE ADVOCATED because people found out about his “secret agreement” with Baltimore.
Why the secret agreement? Because he thought the stadium proposal would FAIL and he’d have a reason to move the team.
Unfortunately for him, he blew through all of his cash too quick, got exposed on the move and grossly underestimated the citizens of Cleveland.
