Moss says Revis better back it up

New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis says he shut down New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss the last time their teams met, and that he's ready to do it again on Sunday.

Moss says Revis better be ready to back that up.

"I don't feed into talking and all that crazy stuff. I'm a 12-year vet. So that stuff don't bother me," Moss said told the Boston Herald today. "My biggest thing is, when you talk like that, you better back it up. So, we'll see. We'll see what goes down."

We will, indeed, see whether Revis can back up his claims on Sunday. But as a scout told PFT's Mike Florio, an examination of the coaching tape doesn't back up Revis's claims about the last game: Revis was, in fact, getting help in the game, when the Jets' defense did a very good job of slowing Moss down and held him to four catches for 24 yards -- his lowest yardage out put of the season -- in a 16-9 Jets victory.

Moss told the Herald that game left a bad taste in his mouth.

"We haven't forgotten what happened the last game. So, we still keep that in mind," Moss said. "We look for a dogfight. I think it's going to be a good game. It's a division game. I don't know how far they are behind us, but this is an important game. So we want it, they want it. We'll just see what happens."

HOLY CRAP THE JETS DEFENSE DID WHAT EVERY OTHER DEFENSE IN THE NFL DOES?

A SAFETY IS PLAYING A DEEP ZONE?

Jesus Christ this is the most tired story I've ever read on this site, and I couldn't care less about either team.

I think the saying goes let sleeping dogs lie. Hey Bevis, or Revis (whoever remembers), you are an idiot. Moss is good when he's not pissed. Get ready to be royally owned. Maybe you should pull a jackass moment and have somebody hit you in the leg with a 9-iron now so you don't have to play this one.

Better hope Moss and the Patriots are up by so much at halftime that they bench the starters and you don't have to face him for the second half.

You had to be told by a scout that there was safety help? WTF do you think a safety does on pass plays.

I smell a Patriots bloooooow out. I wonder if Revis happened to catch the Brady/Moss connection last Sunday night? Plus, last time these two teams played, the Jets were "goin' to da Bowl" while the Brady was still finding his way as he regained his energy/confidence. I'd say the tide has turned. 45-17 Pats.

For the love of god please let this sh#t go every FAN, Head Coach and NFL personnel knows that there is no one "DB" in the NFL that can completely shut Randy Moss down by him self, if that was the case Randy Moss would not be heading to the Hall Of Fame for crying out loud Moss as been great since is rookie year there's no coincidence that the two highest scoring offenses in NFL HISTORY both had Randy Moss on the roster, end of story please no more articles about this sh#t.

I don't get the obsession w/ knokcing the Jets on this site.

Randy is the one who started talking AFTER the last game, he was shut down. regardless whether there was safety help or not he was shut down and has been every game against the Jets except the 2007 opener.

    2009: 4-24 yds
    2008 at NE: 3-26, 1 TD
    2008 at NY: 2-22

Maybe Randy ought to shut up and start backing it up? His #s against the Jets are looking like his average playoff #s in his last 6 playoff games.

Brady to Moss is going to light him up!

  15. Twiz says: November 20, 2009 4:40 PM

In Moss's 12 years as a pro, the Jets have routinely shut him down. In the last two games, I believe I heard something like 79 yards and 0 TD's.

Moss needs to be the one ready to bring it!

  16. finsbooyah says: November 20, 2009 4:49 PM

I hate the Jets with a passion. It is almost an unhealthy hatred for the Jets and their fans (especially since I live in NJ and have to deal with them every Sunday)

I hate the Pats too and need them to lose to make the Pats-Fins game in 2 weeks for 1st place

I can't make up my mind, who do I want to win? Maybe I just won't watch... But I know who will win...

    Pats - 38
    Jets - 16

Write that down, put it in your pocket.

  19. GRpatriot says: November 20, 2009 5:03 PM

I didn't understand why he was hard on Mike Reiss? Reiss was trying to relate that BB agreed with Moss, and said they were helping with a Safety. Reevis said to Mike Reiss, "do you know football?" " Cover 1, cover 2 etc..?" "Well, some of it." Reiss "I ain't getting into it with you guys," Reevis Gasper interjects, " Darell were just trying to get it straight." "BB said Moss was double covered, not all the time, but a lot!" I ain't getting into, you guys always try to get me to say something." Reevis... OK thanks, Darell," Reiss.
He didn't come out and say Moss was lying, but he inferred it! Why is this important? It isn't!
We'll see just how good Reevis is Sunday! Like Randy said, "better back it up!"

Randy's looking for a DOGFIGHT? NICE CHOICE OF WORDS... their other corner Lito Shepard does well against Moss when he played for the Eagles...SO WHAT, if Revis had safety help, they shut him down...maybe Moss would have better luck against Revis, IF he was willing to go over the middle

  25. Raiders4TL says: November 20, 2009 6:20 PM

  26. snnyjcbs says: November 20, 2009 6:21 PM

Lets get over it, no team plays o coverage 100% of the time and every team mix coverages up. Facts are that the corner SHUT RANDY DOWN man over the top or not.

Maybe this is what Gruden is talking about with some folks digging for shit that is not there. Facts are that the young corner is very very good at what he does and will only get better.

The kid can only play the coverages that are called and is a very good man to man corner. He also did shut Randy down and did his job.

Baby Moss gets offended. Give Revis a break Moss He's handled you very well and the one td you caught was against Ty Law last year. You only need to see Revis INT the first game to know he owned moss. He took that from his hands. Randy needs to man up and play better, Revis ain't no punk either, He shut down Andre Johnson and TO. Moss can only talk good about people he owns. And if people learned to read out of 77 plays 7 were safety help......so the other 70 plays where was the safety help. Granted i don't think the Jets are going to win this game because too many injuries, No Jenkins, no Washington and No Leonard isn't good. And for those babies saying there was no welker. I do remember somone else getting 100 yard. And also the Jets did that without Calvin Pace and Braylon Edwards. So no excuses!

Do us all a favor, bigmouth, and POST those stats. Go ahead, go online and check out the games Moss has played in '07, '08, and the first meeting this year. I want to see for myself these

I'm a Pats fan but Revis is as good a corner as there is in the NFL. Obviously he had safety help, but so does every corner who covers Moss. Moss usually still makes plays. Honestly, if Moss keeps two defenders busy the whole game (which he always does) than he is doing his job even if it doesn't show up on the stat sheet.

    Ok.

    Moss' last 6 playoff games:

    16 recs, 233 yds, 3 TDs

    That averages to:

    3 recs, 39 yds and .5 TDs

Is that good enough for you "chump"?

Guess you can't read, can you? I said to get Moss' stats for the games he had against the Jets since coming to New England, which you haven't done.

It's late Sat. night, I'll do your work for you tomorrow.

  35. nyjunc says: November 22, 2009 7:20 AM

I can read English. Apparently you can't as I posted the games since the 2nd meeting of 2007 in my first post.

The man has had ONE good game against us. Let's look at every game he has played against the Jets:

    2002:
    w/ Minny at NY: 4-86

    2005:
    w/ Oak at NY: 2-18

    2006:
    w/ Oak at NY; 2-28

    2007:
    at NY: 9-183-1 TD
    at NE: 5-79

    2008:
    at NY: 2-22
    at NE: 3-26, 1 TD

    2009:
    at NY: 4-24

    8 games, 31 recs, 466 yds, 2 TDs

    Per game averages:

    4 recs, 58 yds, .25 TDs

If we take away the ONE good game he had the averages would be:

    3 recs, 40 yds, .14 TDs

    Just w/ NE:

    23 recs, 334 yds, 2 TDs
    avg: 5 recs, 67 yds, .4 TDs

take away his ONE good game against us:
    avg: 4 recs, 38 yds, .25 TDs

  36. PornFlorio says: November 23, 2009 8:01 PM

    Add to that:

    2009: 5 recs, 34 yds, 1 TD.

Yep, about average, including his ONE good game.

Looks like the Pats fans have to eat crow now.

But look for them to try and hang their hat on Welker to cover for Moss's INABILITY to really do anything much against Revis, that DESPITE Brady looking for Moss FIRST on nearly EVERY single play. Welker is the DUMPOFF, which means that Moss wasn't open, so Welker got the majority of the balls. Speaking of majority of balls, that's what Pats fans usually get in their big mouths on Saturday night. LMFAO!!!!
