We’ve criticized the Redskins front office more than a few times on PFT, so it’s only fair to give them credit when they get something right.
Drafting Brian Orakpo thirteenth overall was very right.
The rookie linebacker/defensive end has seven sacks in his last seven games. That number alone is the most for any rookie since 2006, and it’s amazing because he only plays with his hand down as a pass rusher one-third of the time, according to Rick Maese of the Washington Post.
Orakpo has successfully transitioned from a college defensive end to a strong-side linebacker on most downs. He is often responsible for covering the opposing tight end. This week, he takes on Jason Witten and tries to build his defensive rookie of the year candidacy. (There are a few good options.)
Some people close to Orakpo interviewed for Maese’s article believe the former Longhorn would be even more successful as a full-time pass rusher. But that’s a good problem for the Redskins to have. In a mostly lost year for Washington, at least the team has found a core young player on a squad needing a few more.
Washington’s next coach should appreciate the help.
The Bills took Aaron Maybin.
LOL
Too bad he’s got a big f—ing mouth.
I am calling draft do-over.
I hate Aaron Maybin. I want Orakpo instead.
When asked why he hasn’t played much, “Some of the games haven’t been Maybin type games,” said defensive coordinator Perry Fewell.
Huh? He is a high first round pick! What games did we pick him for then?
Man its to bad he’s will this loser organization. To Bad!
Boy, Orakpo would really good on the strongside playing alongside Morrison and Howard……right, Al Davis ? YOU FREAKING IMBECILE.
Siiiigh.
Good thing the Bills selected Aaron Maybin at 11…..
Good thing the Bills chose to take Aaron “I have four tackles this season” Maybin instead of this guy.
Washington’s defense isnt the problem with that team. They need to dump Carlos Rogers but other than that they have a solid foundation. Maybe if you knew something about football you would have realized that… go back to world of warcraft you nerd.
Put that man’s hand in the dirt EVERY DOWN. I realize he is better than any other OLB we have but he’s also as good if not better than any other DE on the team too. Why not put players in situations to succeed. The Redskins wasted JT’s time here and they’re doing the same thing to Laron. He’s not a free safety. He’s only there because ST21 died. It’s not like the cowboys are going to move Ware to FS because he’s a better athlete than what they have. That’s a retarded idea. Put Laron at SS, Orakpo at DE, and Chris Wilson/HB Blades at OLB. Orakpo at DE only makes them better anyway. And can we all agree Portis is the new Shaun Alexander/Edge?
Nothing frustrates us Redskins fan more than Blache’s misuse of talent.
Lets have Carlos Rogers who plays great press coverage play on a 10 yard cushion every down.
Lets have Orakpo who is proving to be a great pass rusher, stand up and cover 2/3rds of the time he plays.
Lets not forget trying to put Jason Taylor at LE instead of the position that is going to get him to the HoF, RE. (Though that one is on Vinny for making the trade when he knew wed have two RE’s and none that could play LE)
Or even Laron Landry, who plays best at SS in the box. Blache still thinks he can replace Sean Taylor (rip) with Landry just because they were both top safety picks.

Too bad you dropped out of grammar school. You may have learned how to write correctly.

I am a Cowboys fan and hate the Redskins but without Portis the Skins are scary. If Betts can continue to improve Campbell wont have to throw the ball much. This game is going to be a good one.
Is Maybin still holding out? Haven’t seen him this year.
Look for Vinny Cerrato to beat his chest should he get wind of this. One player (and Orakpo was a no brainer pick) does not a successful Exec VP/GM make.
@ chapnasty
I’ve been saying this since last year. I wanted us to try and trade portis to a contender for a 2nd or 3rd rnd pick before last year’s draft. We didn’t and now we’re gonna get nothing for him. I think what the patriots did with Seymour was genius. Betts isn’t a good 3rd down back and everyone in this area was focusing on that saying he isn’t explosive. Yea, he’s not Darren Sproals but look what he did in 2006 when he finished out the season for Portis. He has little wear on his tires and we pay him way less than portis. I really hope we can drop Clinton and his contract after this season and then try and court some linemen/playmakers after our fire sale.
and yea this game should be exciting!
Good thing Cleveland passed on him (and many others) to draft a center that plays the same as his backup.
We didn’t need a pass rusher anyways!

I’m guess you are a Philly fan.
Farves sweet Hair:
It’s TOO bad you don’t know the difference between TO and TOO. Idiot.
So The Broncos could have Ayers, Orakpo, and Maliugawhatever. glad they got knowshon instead.
He has all of the physical tools, yet he says Vince Young will be a HOFer. Too bad for his mental side.
why the hell would you give our fo credit when orakpo fell in our lap due to al davis being senial and drafting the fastes player on the board and then the bills being well the bills and taking maybin orakpo was top ten talent that somehow got over looked and we got really freaking lucky
