Reid: Westbrook out at least three weeks

Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook is expected to miss at least three weeks following his latest concussion, coach Andy Reid said today.

Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer tweets that Reid said today that Westbrook is likely out for the next three weeks.

Geoff Mosher of the News Journal reports that Reid said any decision beyond that will depend on the evaluations of the Eagles' medical staff.

"We'll just see how he feels after that," Reid said.

Realistically, there's no way to say now whether Westbrook will play in three weeks. If he feels fine and the doctors -- both the Eagles' staff and the outside experts Westbrook has consulted -- give him a clean bill of health, he could return. If he's having headaches, dizziness or other symptoms associated with concussions, one would hope the Eagles wouldn't allow him anywhere near the playing field.

But the fact that the Eagles haven't put Westbrook on injured reserve suggests that there's still a chance he can return this year. That return would be at least three weeks away.

Thanks for the update, it's been about twenty minutes since we heard about Brian Westbrook's life threatening concussions.

I'll say it again here. I'd love to know why Westbrook didn't go with a Revolution helmet after his first concussion. Those things are apparently much more protective, and a bunch of players are already wearing them. I'd love to see some data since they've come out with these helmets on concussions with them vs. the old helmets.

The Eagles have no need to IR Westbrook... especially if he gets a clean bill of health by game 16 or 17.

This team still fully expects to make the play-offs. The chance of having a healthy, rested Westbrook available for the final play-off push and heading into the play-offs is worth reserving that roster spot for a few weeks.

Westbrook will play. No NFL team gives a damn about the players. The Eagles are no exception. They're a better football team with him than without him. If he dies he dies.

Buckyball, it's playoffs not play-offs. Are you trying to be exotic? It's not working

Andy Reid should just let B-West play next week and "Put him in a position to not get hurt"

    Times Yours.. hum hum!
