Vrabel out indefinitely for Chiefs

Chiefs linebacker Mike Vrabel is expected to miss this week's Chiefs game.  According to the Kansas City Star, he might miss the next few as well.  (Can hear the jokes in the comments already.  Vrabel is on the Chiefs?)

It's been a tough transition for Vrabel and fellow former Patriot Matt Cassel in Kansas City.  The team has won two games and both players have struggled.

Vrabel has one sack and 33 tackles, good for fourth on the team.  Under constant pressure and with little help around him, Cassel has averaged 5.68 yards per attempt, which only ranks ahead of four qualifying quarterbacks.  He averaged 7.2 in New England.

Cassel will be in Kansas City a while, but Vrabel likely won't be.  He is 34 years old and is a free agent after the season.

Vrabel's leadership alone is worth him comming back to the Chiefs, and the Chiefs have more than enough cap money for this year (even though next season has no cap) to resign him plus others. If Cassel is allowed to throw for more than 5-6 yards, he would be much better.

Too bad he's an excellent player and a great team leader. The Chiefs will miss him while he's out, that's for sure.

The Chiefs lead the league in signing old, broken down, past their prime players.

Vrabel will stay with the Chefs and Richard Seymour will stay with the Raiders.

Come on. These guys deserve better.

    Seymour to Colts.

    Vrabel to Vikings.

That's what they deserve, good players on decent teams.

And I hate Pats players too.

Yeah well guys I'm guessing Belichick really did give his friend Pioli a gift by merely trading Vrabel and Cassel to them for a 2nd round pick. Remember that conspiracy? And yeah, you're all pretty stupid, especially Simmons who should know better.

    Who is Mike Vrabel?

Sad to see Mike Vrabel's career coming to an end. Last spring when the Pats made the trade, I felt Vrabel was included in the deal so the organization didn't have to cut such a respected veteran before the season.

Mike Vrabel will finish his career as the onyl player in NFL history with 50 sacks and 10 touchdowns. His 3 rings, 4 AFC Championships, being a meber of the only 16-0 season, and a pro bowl appearance isn't a bad career for a blue collar player who always put his teams first.

vrabel just isnt very good this year. slow, misses tackles, afraid of contact; ive watched every game. maybe its lack of motivation, degeneration of skills, bad players around or a mix of all 3 but he is not the same player anymore. seeya.
