The Jaguars signed former Seahawk safety Brian Russell just before the season in a last-minute effort to help improve their secondary.
The move didn't pay off, and Russell was cut Saturday in favor of former Raiders offensive lineman Paul McQuistan.
Jacksonville's pass defense remains a weakness of the team, but it should be in fine shape Sunday against Ryan Fitzpatrick of the Bills. A win would put the Jaguars at 6-4 and in fine position to make a run at a wild card spot in the AFC.

OMG WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Brian Russell, another decent defensive back that the Tice-era Vikings didn't keep.
I wish the Browns would have kept him. They had signed him as a free agent from the vikings. He may be too old now but he's smart and can hit. Ask Johnson, you know, 85. Can still see that hit on you tube.
The Browns might not have kept him, but they sure did give him a nice parting gift in the form of a staph infection.
