Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner returned to St. Louis, where he became a star with the Rams, and got off to a good start in today’s game.
But he didn’t get to stick around for the whole thing: Warner suffered a possible concussion in the second quarter, and things changed when Matt Leinart replaced Warner.
Warner went 15 of 19 for 203 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions, and the Cardinals led 21-3 when Warner left the game. Leinart, on the other hand, went 10 of 14 for 74 yards, with no touchdowns and no interceptions, and the Rams outscored the Cardinals 10-0 during the time Leinart was playing.
Still, the Cardinals won 21-13, and they improved to 7-3. With the 49ers and Seahawks both losing today, the Cardinals are in complete command of the NFC West.
Just as long as Warner — not Leinart — is under center.
Let Leinart play with the same game plan as Warner and he will put up numbers just as Hurt has.
Not a good day for former USC QBs.
yea leinart just sucks!just because he doesn’t get 1st team reps and never plays he should throw 5 touchdowns as soon as he gets off the bench.hopefuly he will get a chance with another team, one with a coach who wants him and gives him more than a couple snaps every 2 years to prove himself.
Damn, I hope he’s OK. I wanted him to be at full capacity next Sunday when he comes to Nashville. There’s still unsettled bidness between him and the Titans. At least a yard’s worth.
I didn’t watch the game, so I’m going purely on stats here but 10 of 14 for 74 yards when he probably got 0 first-team snaps in practice this week doesn’t sound all that bad to me
