Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson is inactive for today’s game against the Oakland Raiders, paving the way for the newly acquired Larry Johnson to be active.
Bernard Scott will start at running back, but Johnson should get some carries.
Benson, who was listed as doubtful after sitting out practice this week with a hip injury, was having a big season for the Bengals before he got hurt. Johnson, who was picked up by the Bengals after the Chiefs cut him loose, was having anything but a big season in Kansas City.
But now Johnson will get a second chance, playing in Benson’s absence.
The full list of Bengals inactives, via at NFL.com, includes third quarterback Jordan Palmer, running back Fui Vakapuna, linebacker Keith Rivers, offensive linemen Evan Mathis and Andre Smith, tight end Chase Coffman and wide receiver Jerome Simpson.
The Raiders’ inactives are third quarterback Charlie Frye, wide receiver Todd Watkins, linebacker Jon Alston, tackles Khalif Barnes and Erik Pears, receivers Javon Walker and Nick Miller and defensive tackle William Joseph.
LJ has a 100+ yard game, finishes the season strong, they gets traded and does nothing the rest of his career.
