Chargers pass Broncos in AFC West

When the Denver Broncos surged to a 6-0 start while the San Diego Chargers struggled out of the gate, it looked like Denver would cruise to an AFC West title.

It doesn’t look that way anymore.

The Chargers thoroughly dominated the Broncos in all phases of the game Sunday at Denver, winning the game and leapfrogging the Broncos in the AFC West standings. San Diego is now 7-3 while Denver is 6-4.

For the Chargers, Phillip Rivers was calmly efficient, completing 17 of 22 passes for 145 yards, with a touchdown and no interceptions.

For the Broncos, Chris Simms was benched after a bad start, and when Kyle Orton came in, he was hobbling around on a bad ankle. For the first time all season the Broncos are in second place, and if they want to get back into first, they’ll need a healthy Orton under center.

and imagine, coach hoodie Jr telling the Bolt linebackers as he was walking by them during the pregame that “we own you”.
thats real smart McD, real smart

Like I said before, Chris Simms is an ABOMINATION at the QB position. He is stealing money from the Broncos. He should not be on any professional football roster anywhere, let alone starting an NFL team’s most important game of the year. Simms makes Jamarcus Russell look like John Elway.

McSqueaky might be learning that players win games, not masterful schemes and ingenuious play-calling (not that we’ve seen any of those lately).
A lot of people – myself included – wondered last April why more attention wasn’t paid to the defensive front seven on draft weekend. We were later proven by McSqueaky’s rationale and the first few weeks of the season to be fools. The defense was AWESOME! and we were already division champs. Now, journeymen are walking through us like we’re paper and we have no pass rush.
Moreno’s a cough-up machine and Ayers is … well, where is Ayers? Also, Josh, you can’t win without a QB. And you don’t have one.
    Broncos, meet Square One.

Did anyone else see Marshall and Moreno get into a ‘tiff’ on the sideline?
Might the honeymoon with McDaniels be over?

Don’t take the pink slip personally.

You know what bothers me as a Denver Bronco fan but more so as a fan of professional football is the selling job that Coach McHoodie Jr. did to get Brian Dawkins here. Granted things aren’t going that great for the Philadelphia Eagles but at least they had more talent than the Broncos did at least on the defensive side of the ball, also trading next years 1st round pick to Seattle for their second round pick this year and then signing Ty Law out of retirement to replace the player they got with Seattle’s second round pick this year also had me scratching my head. One last thing, I just watched the Pacquio vs Cotto fight and I liken the Broncos to Cotto. They went out gamely and tried to stand toe to toe with Baltimore and Pittsburgh and came away with the knowledge that they just weren’t good enough.

What should concern Bronco fans is that their team appears to be coming apart at the seams.
Moreno and Marshall going at each other when the game was still reachable? Marshall griping about the trajectory of Orton’s throw in the end zone? McDaniels gambling recklessly going for it in the 3rd quarter two scores down? Wow the Donks got some bad breaks but they weren’t out of it. Confidence requires a steady hand what we witnessed was a meltdown and a coach behaving recklessly (must be in Belichick DNA) or someone dumping the gal he brought to the dance.
The Broncos don’t have the talent of the dysfunctional Chargers, they got to 6-0 with a conservative offense with an aggresive scheming defense. The Broncos are 6-4 and still have a decent shot at a wild card spot it’s up to McDaniel’s to steady the ship and prove Bowlen made the right hire. If the Donks blow it again they will sentenced to purgatory doomed to roam the NFL wilderness of futility but hey they will have the Raiders and Chiefs for company.

Broncos show they are really just donkeys after all.
Chargers continue to quietly work themselves into good shape for the playoffs where they are 2-0 vs Peyton and his Colts.
