The Kansas City Chiefs have accomplished something that they haven’t done since September 2007.
They’ve won two games in a row.
The first part of the current streak was an easy one, it came against the Raiders in Oakland.
The back end came the hard way — beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in overtime.
It appeared the Steelers would win the game on the first drive of overtime, but their drive was interrupted by an injury to Ben Roethlisberger, who appeared to suffer a concussion when he took a knee to the noggin.
Backup Charlie Batch looked sharp at first, but the drive sputtered at the Kansas City 38. The Steelers opted to punt, eschewing (I love that word) a 55-yard field goal try from Jeff “Beer Muscles” Reed.
Four plays later, Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel connected with Chargers castoff Chris Chambers for 61 yards, who took the ball all the way to the Pittsburgh four.
Then, Mr. Irrelevant (known to most of his family members as Ryan Succop) became quite germane for at least a day, delivering the game-winning three-pointer from 22 yards out.
The Chiefs are now 3-7. The Steelers have fallen to 6-4, losing two in a row for the second time this year.
STEELER NATION!!! WOOOOOOOOOOYEAH LETS GO STEELERS, REPEAT BAAAAAAAAAAABY
yeah. thats what you guys actually sound like, and you go and lose to the chiefs.
As a Bengals fan in Kansas City, it couldn’t have worked out any better.
No one should be shocked. The Steelers are overrated garbage.
We looked pathetic today across the board.
GO CHIEFS!!
Ahahahahahahahaha!
With Big Ben injured and Charlie Batch at QB? Nothing is shocking there.
Steelers=Over rated. Worst OC & ST coaches in the NFL. Have fun watching the playoffs if this sh*t keeps up. Maybe the defensive should try making a play also.
I wonder if Mike Tomlin is thinking of pumping Polamalu up with painkillers and forcing him to play, no matter the consequences now.
It’s always a great day when the Steelers lose shutting up their annoying fans. Now the Bengals better not overlook the Raiders.
Another 7 points given up on a kickoff, a pick returned for nearly a touchdown when they were getting ready to score, long plays given up to the Chiefs offense when it mattered most.
I was pretty disgusted even when it looked like Pittsburgh would pull it out in overtime, but maybe it’s a good thing they didn’t, because this team needs a wake up call.
No Troy Polamalu and no Dwayne Bowe, this was a fair matchup. Go Chiefs! OT WIN!
Cue all the loser Steeler-haters. We can’t win it every year, but we are not done yet. Maybe the imminent coaching changes this loss will bring will be a wake-up call the rest of the team.
At least my Cowboys got out of there with a win
chambers was a great pickup. whoever fills in for polamalu needs to get used to playing. once these knee issues start happening its the beginning of the end
This team lacks focus , hunger and discipline . Its pathetic and sad . If you cant get up after a loss to the bengals now you go to KC and lose ? This season is over . Tomlin doesnt know how to motivate his troops . Defense isnt stout . Special teams is a disaster . Another return for a td . The season is over . Tank the rest of the season to get a nice high draft pick . I dont want to hear any other dribble how this team can make a wildcard team and compete . This team has clearly shown it cant .
Congrats to the Chiefs they played a good game and won . Goodluck the rest of the season .

Steelers deserved to lose that game. As a Steeler fan, I need to eat crow. Injuries weren’t the issue, bad secondary play and special teams was. Hats off to the Chiefs. Steelers need loads of help down the stretch. It’s not in their control anymore. They need help to make the playoffs.
Good game Chiefs.
The Steelers have lost to the Chiefs and the Bears. That’s not the sign of a good football team.
Steeler fans ripped on the Ravens because we only beat the Chiefs by 10 points…
I don’t need to remind you guys how pitiful you look now. At least the terrible towel can also function as a tissue.
Hey Ogottz5onit,
“Imminent”?
“Wake up call”?
LOLOLOLOL.
florio, please bring up the hose job the browns got. apparently because the browns were awarded four timeouts last week the refs thought it was necessary the lions get four as well
Looks like we’re just going to have to win the Super Bowl from the wild card spot. Again…………
YEAH GO STEELERS SUPERBOWL REPEAT!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!
Hooby,
I liked sounding like that. Was at the bar for the game. Sister kept yelling that she can’t survive us not going to the playoffs. I said “don’t worry, we can win from the wild card.” A broncos fan turned and said, “you know you both sound almost as arrogant as Patriots fans.” Really had to look at myself in the mirror long and hard after that one.
Our kick coverage teams suck. They’ve lost us more games than our drunk kicker. ha. Chiefs did play tough. Big win for them. Got to get back on track.
I guess I won’t have to hear it from a certain few individuals about how it took the Cowboys OT to beat the Chefs anymore.
“With Big Ben injured and Charlie Batch at QB? Nothing is shocking there.”
He was in three plays…mind your logic…
As a lifelong Chiefs fan born & raised around & in Pittsburgh, this was a complete joy, especially after the Steelers thrashed the Chiefs here a few years ago, the only live game I’ve ever seen the Chiefs play.
My best friends were all pissed and I could only revel in it. The reason people don’t care for Steelers fans is because they’re all ABNOXIOUS. As a Chiefs fan, if someone tells me they like another team, I say, “Ok, cool” and say something complimentary about them (unless it’s the Raiders or Donkeys). Not in Pittsburgh. Steelers fans just think that their backwoods, hillbilly asses don’t stink. Trust me….very, very smelly.
Embarrassing loss by the Steelers. They continue to play down to their opponents and it bites them in the ass. Congrats to the Chiefs and their fans. That win today is a great sign that w/out Bowe and L.J. they can play as a team and win in the NFL.
Once you’ve watched your team win multiple Super Bowls it gets easier to understand how difficult it is to repeat as champions in the NFL. As a realist I understood this going into the season, but I have also seen my team get hot at the end of a season, make the playoffs as a 6-seed, and go on to win the Super Bowl. So, anything is possible. Its not who’s hot in November, but who’s hot in January.
Everyone knows if the Steelers can get a wild card the refs will make sure they win the Super Bowl anyhow!
“Ben Roethlisberger, who appeared to suffer a concussion when he took a knee to the noggin.”
If that is the case, he could be a out a few more games.
why do they look so pathetic w/o Polamalu
Hooby nailed it with his comment.
@Bridawg29
yeah they are called words, they are what normal people use to convey messages to one another… nevermind I don’t want to spoil the surprise for you.
What a win. If only the Chiefs would have capitalized on the Raiders the first go, and the Cowboys OT game, we wouldn’t be looking too far behind in the AFC West. All remaining games “could” be winnable against the Chargers, Browns, Bills, Broncos and Bengals.
Who knows, maybe we can win the rest of them and sneak into a wild card spot?
C’mon Santa, you fat sh*t!!! Give us a present that we have always wanted!
The Steelers just aren’t that good. Even the Bears beat them, for chrissakes!
Still, as long as the Steelers save their best football for January, as they’ve done a pair of time in recent years, they will always remain a threat. That’s if they can even get to January, of course.
Big Ben – I love the guy, think he’s a great QB, but I’ve been saying for a few years now that he is not long for the NFL (I say the same thing about Marion Barber and Brandon Jacobs).
Ben takes such a pounding, that’s part of his game, but he’s gonna be one of these Drew Bledsoe types who seems like he’s ancient by the time he’s only like 32 years old. I don’t see him playing past that age, if that. We’ll see.
@matthoover
Thank you, it needed to be said.
Raised in Western PA and currently live there too, I know Steelers fans talk a lot of smack, but they look hilarious when they can’t back it up like they couldn’t today. Or last week. Or against the Bears. Whiniest, most fair-weather fanbase in all of the NFL.
The Steeler fanbase makes the Raidernation look like MENSA.
@Matthoover
What the hell is abnoxious.
signed,
a stupid backwoods hillbilly Steelers fan with an ass you apparently sniff.
thank you, hooj.
“At least my Cowboys got out of there with a win”
the irrelevance of this comment is striking, like a knee to the helmet (get it). yet, im not shocked that a cowboys fan would be bringing up their 7-6 ‘win’ over the ‘redskins’ in a completely unrelated topic…
please no arguing, itll just get ugly like it always does
If the Steeler D does not score, they will lost to QBs that don’t turn the ball over…
hmmmm
On the flip side of that, there are more Steelers fans who’ve congratulated the Chiefs on a good game than I’ve seen from the fans of most other teams. Seems like they have some class, even though they were obviously disappointed in the game.
On a different note, am I the only one who doesn’t think that it’s a coincidence that as soon as the Chiefs cut Little Johnson, they go on a winning streak?
I think it would be great to get all the Steeler trash talkers on this site and all the Steeler haters on this site together in one room. My guess is most of you would not show up. Easy to talk like tough guys on the internet, which, most of you are not.
bengals fans that came here to spew your nonsense – enjoy your crow soup!
@Debacled
I normally do not comment on these pages but to say that Steelers fans are fair-weathered and “hillbilly’s” is just an unintelligent comment. Check out how many people were at the game today. Check out any road game and see how many “fair-weathered” Steelers fans show up.
Can some of us be obnoxious? Yea absolutely, but I guess winning more Super Bowl’s than anyone else gives us some rights.
We have nothing to brag about this year. We have the worst special teams in the NFL and cannot make the big stops when needed. Feels like a repeat of the last time we won the Super Bowl!
Congrats to the Chiefs for a great win. I hope you continue to get better.
jeffz303 – stereotyping an entire fan base as acting a certain way or being a specific type of person just shows peoples’ lack of intelligence.
cough*ch0ke*cough
(repeat)
rydendonkeys – so if you can create turnovers on defense and stay turnover free on offense you win games? i think you are on to something!
if only everyone was as great as John Elway, he never needed his defense to help him….ever.
“the irrelevance of this comment is striking, like a knee to the helmet (get it). yet, im not shocked that a cowboys fan would be bringing up their 7-6 ‘win’ over the ‘redskins’ in a completely unrelated topic…”
I believe he was talking about the Cowboys getting out of KC with a win. No need for quotation marks, a one point win is still a win and the ‘redskins’ are an NFL team just like the ‘raiders’ and ‘steelers’ are.
drac: It is easy to call your shots…on a message board. I’d be happy to meet w. you in “one room” to talk about our thoughts on the loss by the Steelers today.
Should we agree to meet halfway.
Or should we both agree that the Steelers, cough*choke*cough, lost to the Chiefs today and don’t look very formidable?
BTW: Is it me or does Polamalu seem to be missing more and more games due to injury?
Father Time? tick, tock…
i think ill use “quotation marks” because the cowboys didnt really win…the redskins lost it, and the cowboys just happened to be there. two easy field goals were missed and the “defense” crumbled. the “offense” was none to spectac either. for both “teams.”
Hey Sourdough, what’s up? You’re last comment to me that I’m aware of prior to today was before the San Diego game earlier this year. Something along the lines of “enjoy the game”. Thanks for your good wishes and yes, I did enjoy that game. I’d love to meet you over a beer. Fact is the Steelers are a very average team this year and I won’t attempt to make them out to be anything more. I’ll spare you any smack at the Chargers because I’m confident the Steelers stack up pretty well to the Chargers from a historical perspective. Have a nice day and enjoy the rest of the season.
im tired of you jerks saying how the refs help the steelers win, go shove it up your a$$ all of you haters. need to stay on your own team sites and stay out of the steelers.
hey steeltownpride you always stand behind your team no matter what! the season is far from over pu$$y!
drac…i can HEAR you copping an attitude.
drac: Too bad a “historical perspective” didn’t help the Steelers in their loss to the Chiefs today.
cough*choke*c0ugh
Congratulations to the Chiefs for making the most of their opportunities and pulling off a great win. I had to follow the game on ESPN.com, and was most impressed with the last drive when Cassel went from a 3rd and 9 to gaining 77 yards on two pass plays. I’m sure it was a sweet victory for Todd Hailey.
As for my Steelers, I’ve been impressed with Mike Tomlin as a coach and motivator. But now it’s time to see what kind of manager he is. Competent managers are able to address staff weaknesses, and clearly we have some. I’m not taking anything away from the excellent play of the Bengals and Chiefs. But at the end of the day, the difference in both games was a kick return for TD on special teams. Special teams isn’t our only problem by any means. But right now, I want to see some special teams people in the unemployment line as soon as it’s feasible to put them there.
Haha the Squeelers lost the the Chiefs!
Someone needs to pull an intervention on Big Ben, he is getting a little too big.
@matthoover …
The word is “obnoxious,” not “abnoxious.” It describes people who stereotype ALL the fans of a team backwoods and hillbilly because that’s how he feels about a few of his “friends.” It describes someone who judges Steelers fans for disrespecting fans of other teams when he only disrespects fans of the Raiders and Broncos. It describes someone who, instead of being grateful that his team had finally won a game, comes onto a site to talk smack to the losers.
Obnoxious. You should probably learn how to spell it, considering it’s so applicable to your character.
You are correct Sourdough. Didn’t help them at all today. As for “cough*choke*cough”, you know that feeling all to well, don’t you my friend? Happens every year to Charger Fan.
@ Vox’s Mommy:
How stupid is my comment looking this morning? Friday afternoon I commented that the Chiefs had a shot at upsetting the Steelers and that was my upset pick of the week. This moron “Vox’s Mommy” said I was stupid and my comment was the stupidest thing ever posted. I don’t think so.
OK…the Chiefs made me eat my words. Are you proud of yourself now?? LOL. You seriously came on this old post 3 days later to post this comment? Seems I actually got under your skin with a silly comment more than the Steelers losing to KC got under mine. Word to the wise mamedia….get a life off the internet…IT’S SOOO MUCH BETTER!
