Favre’s big game has him feeling more confident

Brett Favre admitted today that there were times, as he struggled through the 2008 season with the Jets, that he started to lose confidence.

But now that he’s rolling through the 2009 season with the Vikings, he says he feels awfully good about where he and his team are going.

“Getting back to that confidence that I had when I didn’t know any better, that was pretty good,” Favre said after leading the Vikings to a 35-9 win over the Seattle Seahawks. “And I’m feeling more confident. I’m more of a realist at this age, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go out there and turn it loose.”

Favre has every reason to feel confident after he completed 22 of 25 passes (a career-high 88 percent) for 213 yards and four touchdowns.

The Vikings improved to 9-1 while the Seahawks fell to 3-7.

Seahawks coach Jim Mora said after the game what a lot of opposing coaches have been thinking about Favre: “I saw Brett after the game and said, ‘Would you retire, please,”’ Mora said. “He said ‘You’ve been saying that to me for about eight years,’ and I said, ‘I know, and I’m going to keep saying it to you.’ The guy is remarkable, but we’ve still got to be better.”
