Browns G Eric Steinbach said it makes you "sick to your stomach" to lose 38-37 after a pass interference penalty gave the Lions an extra play.
Browns CB Hank Poteat didn't deny pushing Lions WR Bryant Johnson on that fateful play, and said he did it because the quarterback was out of the pocket.
Browns QB Brady Quinn threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns in a performance that featured few of the checkdowns he's become known for this season.
Quinn did earn some criticism from Browns coach Eric Mangini for an incompletion on third down after the two minute warning that gave the Lions the ball back with enough time to pull off their comeback.
Said Browns CB Eric Wright of allowing 422 passing yards to Lions QB Matthew Stafford, "It's devastating. I feel we let the offense down, the team down. We're
way, way, way better than that. We handed them a lot of stuff."
It looked like Stafford would miss the last Lions play after getting drilled, but a Browns time out gave him time to recover enough to return and throw the winning touchdown to TE Brandon Pettigrew.
Said Lions C Dominic Raiola of Stafford, "Nine's a tough SOB. I know that for a fact. He took a pretty bad hit,
came back in the game and finished the game -- hung in there with it."
Lions coach Jim Schwartz said a series of defensive miscommunications enabled the Browns to jump out to a 24-3 lead.
WR Calvin Johnson and RB Kevin Smith became the first pair of Lions to have 100 yards receiving in the same game since 2007.
Steve Schrader of the Detroit Free Press bemoaned the fact that fans in Detroit weren't able to watch the exciting Lions victory on television.
