Colts, Saints can clinch divisions

Like the leaves changing colors and Christmas decorations sprouting up at department stores, one of the annual reminders that fall is turning to winter comes when the NFL starts distributing playoff scenarios.

That happened today, when the NFL sent out a notice that the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints could both clinch their divisions in Week 12.

The Colts will clinch the AFC South if they beat the Texans and the Jaguars lose to the 49ers on Sunday.

The Saints will clinch the NFC South if they beat the Patriots next Monday and the Falcons lose or tie against the Buccaneers — or if the Saints and Patriots tie and the Falcons lose.

These playoff scenarios may not ultimately mean a whole lot, as the 10-0 Colts and Saints are both locks to win their divisions even if they don’t clinch in Week 12. But the mere fact that they could do it during the coming week is a reminder that the season is reaching the home stretch.

Colts are a lock to win AFC now too, despite it not being mathematically the case. (3-4 game leads don’t disappear when your have an elite QB and coaching system).

Just another day at the office for Indy.

the Colts could go 16-0 every season and still go one n done in the playoffs two-thirds of the time … everything seems to go wrong for us in the playoffs

Too bad the colts are going to lose to the Texans as they make their playoff push..should be an epic one…

Yes. The Colts will lose to Houston. The Texans have their backs up against the wall, they are playing at home and the Colts have been as lucky as they have been good the last couple of weeks. But it won’t matter. The Colts still will win the AFC (which, given their past history, may not be for the best). GO HORSE

But it won’t matter. The Colts will still choke in the playoffs (which, given their past history, they have done all but one year under Manning).

these things rarely work out so neatly.
first, there is a very real chance the colts AND saints lose next week. the jags may lose. the falcons wont.
the colts could lose in week 13 to the surging titans. i suspect the saints will not lose to the skins.
the saints could lose in week 14 to the falcons. i suspect the colts will not lose to fading denver.
in week 15 the colts can lose to jax. and new orleans can lose to dallas.
i see neither team losing in week 16. or 17, unless they dont need it.

Of course, NO ONE will EVER CHOKE as much as the Pats did in the Super Bowl two years ago.

Wow, listen to these bleak Colts fans!
As an Arizona Cardinal fan I could show you a thing or two about stoic patience.
Best Super Bowl matchup would indeed be Colts vs. Saints. Peyton Manning against the team he grew up idolizing, his father’s team? The unwanted Drew Brees taking a sad sack Saints team to the Super Bowl. It would be awesome.
Which means it’ll probably be Eagles-Texans or something.

Your Cardinals have a longer streak of ineptness. How can you call the #1 offense in the league sad sack. Are you just jealous because Concussion Kurt is your QB, along with Loser Matt. Douche!!!

The Colts are slowing down. And as the season winds down its clear to me that they know teams are taking away Dallas Clark completley and opposing teams will continue to live with Wayne getting his catches underneath until someone can consistantly step up with big plays.
The reason that I say this is because Manning’s numbers have declined recently along with Clarks numbers and teams beleive there is a connection there. The Colts realize this and are trying desperatley to get Tom Santi involved in the passing game like Ben Utech, Marcus Pollard in previous years so Dallas can play the slot where he’s comfortable, and Santi can expose the secondary with his Athleticism, but after Sunday’s game Manning looked frusterated with Santi’s up and down performance. Collie’s stock has somewhat gone down, Garcon has shown flashes but still remains inconsistant.

I am a Colts fan,,and they will not lose to Houston Sunday,,they will actually blow them out,,,,,but I am not sure they can, or will be able to handle the Saints.
The Pats are like a guest that just wont leave,,,,go away already.
But everyone is still not giving the Vikes and Bengals the respect and attention they deserve. Yes, the Bengals lost to Oakland,,,,,,but all good teams have that WTF day…
    Superbowl—-Colts vs Saints –AWESOME game.
Minn vs Cin –Another AWSOME game.
All others (Pats, Steelers, Cowboys, Eagles, —-BIG YAWN!!!
