Steelers-Chiefs one-liners

A fourth kick return for a score in the last five games sent the Steelers down a path that resulted in a 27-24 loss to the Chiefs.

Said Steelers WR Hines Ward, “The coaches have to put us in a better position. All of us have to look in the
mirror, but we’re all in this together; the coaches have to evaluate
themselves as much was we do.”

John Harris of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review takes issue with the Steelers calling a sweep for Mewelde Moore on third down in overtime.

The Steelers had to play the second half and overtime without LG Chris Kemoeatu after he sprained his knee.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger tied a team-record with his fourth 300-yard passing game of the season and his 398 yards were the fourth-best in team history.

RB Jamaal Charles got the Chiefs started with a 97-yard kickoff return touchdown and sent the game to overtime with a two-yard catch in the fourth quarter.

Chiefs WR Chris Chambers had four catches for 119 yards, including a 61-yarder to set up Ryan Succop’s game-winning field goal.

Jason Whitlock of the Kansas City Star thinks Sunday’s win shows how far Chiefs coach Todd Haley has come in his first season.

Haley, offensive coordinator of the Cardinals last year, said that watching Chiefs LB Andy Studebaker take an interception back 94 yards made him think about James Harrison’s touchdown from last year’s Super Bowl.

Chiefs QB Matt Cassel didn’t throw an interception and was 15 of 30 for 248 yards and two touchdowns.

I agree with John Harris. Why the hell on third and two do you toss a pitch out to Mewelde on a sweep? He’s not that fast for one and two, its two yards put Rashard in and pound it up the middle! It drives me nuts to see him do so good one week then they abandon him the next.

    Maxsteel…
I’m loving how Hines called out the coaching to a degree. I’ve been saying this all year. It’s more the coaching than anything else. Now, I’m not saying the players aren’t responsible at all, but if you look at some of the play calls this year by Bruce Arians, its’ pathetic. WE NEED TO GET RID OF HIM AFTER THIS YEAR!!!

It’s funny how squeeler fans were talking about repeat throughout the season. You’re lucky enough to get a wildcard at this point.
Ravens are going to pound you into dust.

Haley, offensive coordinator of the Cardinals last year, said that watching Chiefs LB Andy Studebaker take an interception back 94 yards made him think about James Harrison’s touchdown from last year’s Super Bowl, in that he stepped out of bounds and it shouldn’t have been a TD.

I’m pretty sure that there was tripping by the TE on that pass to Chambers that set up the game winning field goal.
