Redskins fans don't have a lot to look forward to this season, but they were hoping to see tight end Chris Cooley back on the field.
Speaking on Eliot in the Morning on DC 101 in Washington, Cooley said that probably isn't going to happen. The Pro Bowler said he expects to go on injured reserve, according to Dan Steinberg of DC Sports Bog.
It was reported Monday that Cooley was expected to be in a walking boot for another ten days because of his surgically repaired ankle. It sounds like he'd be able to return for 2-3 games at most, and the team may not think it's worth the risk considering their record.
Cooley is expected to meet with Redskins coach Jim Zorn Tuesday and could settle on a plan. Fred Davis has caught 16 passes for 178 yards in the last four yards in place of Cooley.

Damn, I always liked CC. Best TE in the NFC East and that's saying something.
But will his brother get to interview players in the opponents locker room and twitter what bungholes they were for not talking to a local celebrities brother.
no reason to come back early and risk serious injury. Just ride the sideline and get paid.
I listen to Elliot in the Morning and always hear the interviews with Chris Cooley. The man is quite annoyed he hasn't healed quickly, and should absolutely be put on IR. Considering the number of injuries the Skins have had this season, they need roster slots to evaluate talent. And our franchise TE playing the last 2-3 games absolutely makes no sense.
Just as a note, the Ravens put their second player of the season on IR yesterday. When Cooley goes on IR today, it will be the Redskins 4th, THIS WEEK!!! Not like we were any good when we were healthy but wow guys, wow...
178 yards in the last four yards?
who needs Cooley with that sort of production!
I'm not sure what is more disappointing news:
That Captain Chaos will have to be shut down for the year?
OR
That he would appear on that fake cackler's morning show? What a dreadful hack!
That's really going to hurt...Eagles are giving up a lot of plays to tight ends.
Appreciate the earnest effort in wanting to come back, but this ain't the year Chris.
Just don't use your free time posting your Vienna sausage on your blog. K? THX
