Kubiak: "Kris is our kicker"

Texans kicker Kris Brown isn’t going anywhere.

In a decision that may not please certain Texans fans, coach Gary Kubiak will not even try out other kickers after Brown missed a potential game-tying kick in consecutive games.

“Kris is our kicker,” Kubiak said at his Tuesday press conference.

The team’s decision is less surprising if you consider Brown’s contract.  He signed a four-year, $10 million contract with $2.5 million guaranteed in June.

“[I'm] the reason we lose the game,” Brown said Monday.  “That’s hard for me to take. I need to go
figure out what the heck is going on, and I need to figure it out
pretty quick.”

Regardless of Brown’s contract, a third swing and miss with the game on the line would be tough to accept.  With all the close games Houston has played this year, he’ll probably get another chance.

You should not have to kick a last-second field goal at home. The offensive line of the Texans must be upgraded.
Coach Kubiak’s job might be upgraded, too.

Kris Brown is infamous in Pittsburgh for the same reasons.
It seriously amazes me that he’s been with the Texans since their inception.

I have always been jealous of kickers and what their job entails. You hear about how kickers are not really a huge part of team activities…they dont have to do a whole bunch of training, they make a few kicks in practice, eat some lunch and then go play 18 holes of golf.
Within the last couple of weeks, you have seen both Hauschka lose his job and then this guy, Brown, who has obviously proved himself enough to get a 10 million dollar contract and after two big mistakes, is expected to lose his job.
Despite the fact that his job is to be there in the clutch and with his performance, that his job should be in jeopardy, I am just sayin…it would be stressful.

Must suck to play your ass off all game then watch the little guy in the clean uniform walk on the field and lose the game. That’s a rough spot for both the team and the kicker.

lol, blaming a kicker for losing a game that takes 4 quarters to play. Offense and Defense both have the opportunity to make it a 7 point game instead of a 3 point game. If they’re allowed to make a mistake then so is a kicker. They both failed at giving their team enough points to win a game.
It must be easy to know how exactly it feels to be under the amount of stress a kicker is under from the comfort of the interwebs.

As a Texans fan who had a Chicago roommate all through college, this statement makes me both sad and happy at the same time.
