Chris Perry gets a sniff

Chris Perry is a good example of how NFL careers can change or stop on a dime.

He opened 2008 as the Bengals starting running back, but finished it without a team and hasn’t been heard from since.

Until now.

Scout’s Adam Caplan reports the Chiefs worked out Perry Wednesday.  Perry was linked to the Orlando Tuskers of the UFL, but never suited up for the team.  (We doubled checked the league’s rushing stats.  DeDe Dorsey doing work!)

Perry has a versatile skill set, but struggled to stay healthy while in Cincinnati.

Oh no, it’s bad for the Chiefs when they are looking at two-carry Perry.

Wow. The Chiefs are really scraping the bottom of the barrel now.

He’s also versatile at coughing up the ball.

Be nice to see Perry hook on with a team. We got a glimpse of what he could do here in Cincy back in 05, but he just couldn’t stay healthy. Good luck to him.

At this point there’s a better chance getting production from Refrigerator Perry than Chris Perry.

DeDe Dorsey is an NFL talent.

DeDe Dorsey is an NFL talent.
Played for the Indianapolis Colts in 2006 and the Cincinnati Bengals in 2007.
He’s 25 so still has a shot to return, don’t remember him so don’t know why he didn’t make it before.

Dorsey would be the better back, but as shown in Hard Knocks, Dorsey may be a little bit “me first”.
Perry is one hit away from re-fracturing his leg.
I can’t believe KC is doing this cause Cincy signed LJ. LJ will probably deliver KC’s playbook to the Bengals. Perry is two years removed and doesn’t have a clue what Cincy has changed since he was cut.

Chris Perry was healthy last year and just had no production. We brought in Cedric Benson who had been out of football for months and he started to produce right away and finished the year strong.
Chris was a 1st round draft pick but only flashed his potential in 2005 and was injured in 2006 and 2007 and just wasn’t the same when he returned. He also didn’t ever strike me as a “character” guy.
Dede Dorsey is for real. He barely missed making the Bengals and it was only because they needed their third back to have a different skill set than Dorsey. Cedric Benson before he got hurt was at times the number 1 rusher in the NFL. The second string back Bernard Scott is a 6th round pick this year and is a special talent and Brian Leonard was kept over Dorsey because he is 230 lb. blocker and athletic, sure handed 3rd down back. Dorsey is a home run hitter and is known to block kicks and return for touchdowns.
