I SAW THE PLAY. NO HIGH FIVE. BIG TO-DO ABOUT NOTHING. SAME AS WHEN ‘THE SCRUB’ LANDED ON AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER AND ANNOUNCED: “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED”. BIG-TO-DO ABOUT NOTHING.
THIS IS A SPORTS STORY; YET SOME PEOPLE SEEM TO THINK THEY ARE ON MSNBC NEWSVINE AND HAVE TO GO ANTI-DEMS. GET REAL PEOPLE. FOOTBALL IN THE PROS IS AS HONEST AS PRO WRESTLING. THE REF HAD MONEY ON THE GAME. HE MISSED AT LEAST 6 HOLDING CALLS IN THE 1ST QUARTER ALONE.

What the hell do you think the NFL is going to say? “Ummmm, honestly, the ref had $20 on the Titans and he was happy.”
Talk about asking a question you know the answer to.
I haven’t seen the play…..but big deal, the ref is human. He know the trials Vince Young has gone through. He is a sports fan…reads the paper and internet just like us. Vince make a big play, everything is electric, and the ref responds instinctivly like an excited human being.
Would you scoff at a NBA ref jumping in the air when Jordan hit a 3 pointer to win a game? Of course not, it is just raw emotion.

This is ridiculous. NFL films has released several tapes and dvds with footage of Brett Favre high-fiving and messing around with referees all the time. Does anyone remember in 2007 when he hit one with a snowball? PFT!!!! Bring this up to the NFL. You have the power, and you can do something about. Oh, and… possibly credit me JK. But seriously, they’re denying that something happened AFTER the game as if it is a big deal, but don’t care if ol’ Brett does it during the middle of the third quarter?!

It’s not like the texans where winning for the other 59:45 of the game and just lost it on that one play.
your team lost, yes it was a bullshit call, but to blame the lost on that one call is cowardly and lacking any character. you lost the other 60 minutes too, so get over it. (this from a viking fan that saw a complete bs tripping call against pittsburgh) a loss is a loss, good teams can over come bad calls.

I guess next time my hand is moving up at the same time a stripper is bending down and I make contact with her breasts, I can claim it does not constitute, in my opinion, intentional contact.

I think high fives from refs are a bad idea.
I can see shaking a players hand when he breaks some long standing career record .
I can see quitely saying something as they leave the field.
But a high five at the moment of victory or during the game. No.
Now the Ref may not have intended to high five, and it might be VY being full of himself to believe that was the refs intention. But really the situation should be the NFL player should not expect a high five from a ref.

I don’t care about this alleged high-five.. what concerns me is the overall quality (or lack of same) of officiating in the NFL nowadays. Boger is arguably THE worst ref in the league, based on the games I’ve seen him call. And that’s really saying something, given how awful the officiating is overall.

Tiki Barber once did a similar thing in college when a referee raised his arms to signal a touchdown. Tiki quickly jumped up and high-fived the ref who had his arm up in the air with his palm out. It didn’t go over well. But it was clever.

So, that was not a high five?
Right … and Obama didn’t bow to the Saudi king either, did he?
A question for the people who say the ref’s rather obvious high five is no big deal: where do you draw the line?
For example, is it OK for the refs to do that thing where guys jump up in the air and bounce their butts off of each other? (A move that was started by the Village People, from what I understand.)
I realize that this is a concept beyond the understanding of you folks who were raised by Stuart Scott, but refs are not supposed to do anything that could call their objectivity into question. And there are few actions more questionable than giving ANY player a high five – before, during, or after a game.
The fact that the ref in question missed at least one obvious roughing-the-QB call against Schaub makes his high five even more objectionable.

Why would it matter if it was a real high five or not? As said earlier, Ref’s routinely congratulate players before, during and after the game.
Now, if you want to take the NFL’s stance on the entire situation, people like Lord Florio should be going after the NFL regarding a fine for VY for intentionally putting his hand on a ref. (heavy sarcasm)
