Texans put Eugene Wilson on IR

The Houston Texans have lost one of their top defensive players, as safety Eugene Wilson has been placed on injured reserve.

Wilson has two broken toes on his left foot and will require surgery to repair the injury. Houston signed former Jacksonville safety Brian Russell to take Wilson’s spot on the roster.

Wilson has played in eight games this season, starting all of them. John Busing will now take Wilson’s place as the starting free safety.

Wilson was the Texans’ best coverage safety, and he’ll be missed on a team that, at 5-5, still has playoff ambitions. He’ll especially be missed on Sunday, when the Texans take on the Colts.

Actually, he didnt start or play in the Jets game because of the illegal crack back block Brett Favre put on him in the pre-season.
