Benson misses practice again

When Cedric Benson first hurt his hip, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said publicly that his starter wasn't likely to miss any game action.

But the team's actions since have spoken a lot louder.

First, the team signed Larry Johnson for insurance.  Next, Benson sat out last Sunday's game against Oakland.  And on Thursday, Benson sat out practice once again, like he has for every practice since getting hurt.

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer says Benson did some rehab work on the side of practice and there remains "a slight possibility" Benson will play Sunday.

And despite Lewis saying earlier this week that Benson has a "good opportunity" to suit up, the Bengals have little reason to risk it.

The Bengals didn't lose in Oakland because of their running game; Bernard Scott led the way for Cincinnati to rush for 177 yards.  It sounds like Scott may carry the load this week against the Browns too.

Actually, Benson was limited yesterday, but did practice.

The rumor was he had a hip capsule tear but that was shot down by the team. Now not so sure I guess time will tell.

The running game wasn't the only reason they lost, but Bernard Scott was a miserable 3 yards per carry without his 61 yard run that he failed to take to the house. If Benson had been healthy and available, I could definitely see a scenario where we would have won that game with everything else being the same. More than likely, that's why Brat called a stupid pass play that got Palmer sacked from 3rd and 1 and led to a missed field goal. That's okay Rosenthal, guess I can't expect people who analyze games to actually know what they're talking about.

Sit him and keep him healthy for the playoffs.

Running game didn't lose Oakland game, everyone played flat.

Benson is a pu$$y when it comes to injury. Kinda funny for a supposed power back to have a low pain threshold and a habit of pulling himself out of games.

Never a good idea to lose a player like Benson, even if the numbers at the end of the game look comparable in a particular category.

Low risk play, can't blame them, in fact, regardless of any prognosis we're unaware of, there's no reason to rush during this stretch. Get him ready for Min/SD.

Just like the TV show "Benson" he'll be cancelled shortly. The bengals are starting to meltdown and they know that they've got all they are going to get out of Benson. Why else would they bring in a homophobe? This Cinderella story is over. Third place in the division and out of the playoffs. That's a crash and burn!

Mastershake: Too many carbs already today for Thanksgiving and on a sugar high? Third place, right. After we sweep the division on Sunday, win our last 2 home games against the Lions/Chiefs and at least one of the away games we'll have 11 wins, which will definitely NOT be 3rd place, but hopefully a division win. Dream on!
