DHB makes his end zone debut

In the 11th game of his rookie season, receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey finally has scored a touchdown.

The six-pointer for the seventh overall pick in the 2009 draft came on a four-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bruce Gradkowski, midway through the third quarter of Thursday’s game against the Cowboys.

The score, with the extra point, cut made the score 17-7.

So fight off that urge to snooze.  This still might be a game yet.

    DHB has no hands what-so-ever….
Both his catches today were in his stomach.
Worst WR hands I have ever seen.
    Nice pick Al….

I’m not one to complain much, but after watching the game, I saw a lot of holding on the Dallas offense and no flags were thrown. Some holding had completely they’re arms around the Raider defenders. Where where the officials? What about lifting and slamming the punt returner? Where was the flag? Tell me there are not zebras that are turning a blind eye on teams that they like? I see a lot of favoritism for certain teams.

Yeah, they’re just big bad bullies that kicked sand in the Raiders’ faces.

A blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. I’m not writing this guy off but, he has A LOT of work to do this offseason if he ever has a shot in the league. His hands are terrible, which could be attributed to nerves, but you gotta get over it sometime.

Yea, the refs love Dallas, that’s why they gave the Redskins back yardage after a penalty By reviewing a play they can’t review. and that’s why they gave Green Bay no penalty for calling a challenge they didn’t have. That’s why they reviewed play tonight and gave Miles Austin a TD , then reviewed it again and took the TD back. And that’s why Dallas has won so many playoff games lately. The refs are on their payroll. Yea man, you nailed it. I’m gonna call this guy the “nailer”.

    Chunkysoupysales…
Nobody gave Austin a TD AFTER a review as the review had not yet been completed prior to the on-the-field officials making their call. Here’s what happened: the officials on the field were unsure of what they had just witnessed. They were still conferring with each other while the upstairs official (in the last two minutes, the decision to review is strictly the upstairs official’s call) began his review. While the upstairs official was still looking at the tape, the officials on the field finally made THEIR official call: Austin had scored. Unfortunately for them, the tape clearly showed Austin’s lower leg on the ground during the tackle so the guy upstairs correctly determined Austin was down by contact at about the 8 yard line, thus reversing the call on the field.

HAHA 6 more total games to do it. 4 days AFTER Crabtree got his. 34 yds shorter of a pass for the td., and he still has 13 fewer receptions too. Al Davis really picked a stud there. I mean it’s so awesome to get a 4 yd td. I guess I should really be thanking Al davis for his speed obsession and skipping Crabtree. Man imagine the difference in the stats had Crabs played all year. Still makes me wonder how in hell did Davis ship over Vernon Davis in 06? I’m sure the raiders had to have picked higher then too.

    “YumanBeing”- “Next stop: Canton!!!”
You might be on to something. Aren’t the members of Canton each represented by a Bust??? I cant think of a better description of D.H.B then Bust. Speaking of busts. They should stick a brown paper bag over the head of the bronze bust of senile drooling Al for drafting this stiff and destroying the Raiders.

You know, I see people on here just mentioned Vernon Davis…and he was considered a bust for a while too, but has turned into an excellent player. Now, it may just take a little while for them to grow into players…Heyward-Bey shouldn’t automatically be labeled a bust. If that’s the case, McFadden is easily more of a bust. The Raiders are flat out bad too. I mean, JaMarcus Russell and Bruce Gradkowski are throwing to these guys. I’m not so sure that Heyward-Bey wouldn’t be a decent receiver elsewhere. It’s the first game I’ve watched of Oakland this year, and he seemed to get decent separation. He wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought he would be comparatively to what I’d been hearing. I’m not saying the kid will be Jerry Rice, but people also forget – if you’re old enough you’ll remember – Rice struggled as a rookie, especially with drops. Then it clicked. Once again, I reiterate, I’m not saying he’ll be anywhere near Rice, but it’s tough to label any receiver on that team a bust.
A bust has to be like Ryan Leaf – or Vernon Gholston so far – absolutely NO production.

  21. PurpleJudas says: Nov 27, 2009 5:01 AM

Settle down guys. I mean, after all, this was only Oakland’s 5th passing TD to ANYBDOY on the season. 10th TD total. Oakland’s offense is not exactly dynamic. Now that he has one, he’s only 1 off the team lead. Nobody on that team has more than 2. It just might be possible that its a RAIDER problem, not a DHB problem. Though his hands do need to improve.

  22. Joe in Toronto, Canada says: Nov 27, 2009 6:36 AM

Say what you want about DHB but the kid wants to get better and he doesn’t have an attitude problem.
He’ll get better, and when he does, lookout.

  23. Bill In DC says: Nov 27, 2009 8:47 AM

    The refs are favoring Dallas???
LOLOLOL!! You’re serious? I don’t know which game you watched but they don’t seem to have called a whole lot of holding on the Raiders O line either. Holding occurs on every play by every team. The refs tend to call the egregious ones that affect the play.
I’d point out a cuople of non-calls on the Raiders for obvious horse collar tackles
If you’ve seen Dallas games this season you would not make that statement.

  24. Joe in Toronto, Canada says: Nov 27, 2009 9:55 AM

The Raiders didn’t lose because of the officials, masterblaster78, we lost the game in the trenches, plain and simple.
I don’t think Grads got to step into one throw, he was harassed all day long.
Throw in piss poor coaching, and the score could have been allot worse.
