Rookie safety Louis Delmas has been one of the bright spots of Detroit’s season, making plays and administering big hits on a weekly basis.
On Thursday, one of his big hits went over the line. Delmas was penalized for a monster blast to Packers tight end Jermichael Finley’s chest and helmet when the ball was already past the receiver. Finley thought the play was dirty and wanted retribution, according to Greg A. Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
“Didn’t like it and I went up to him and told him, ‘Payback’s coming, for sure,’” Finley said after the game. Finley never got his chance.
“That’s why I’m a little frustrated why the hell I didn’t get him, to tell you the truth,” Finley said before saying he hoped Delmas would get fined.
Aaron Rodgers took exception with Delmas’ celebration after the play.
“The only problem I had with it and I told Louis this, I said, ‘He was
unprotected. So don’t go dancing around. You hit a guy who’s
unprotected,’” Rodgers said.
Payback would be nice, but the Packers got something far more valuable: a win. After three straight victories, the Packers are in good position to nab a NFC wild card spot, especially because their competitors in the NFC East play a round robin against each other in the coming weeks.
There is a long way to go, but even the most staunch anti-McCarty and Thompson factions of the Packers fanbase has to feel a lot better than they did three weeks ago.
Delmas can be a great player, but he needs to quit taking these stupid penalties.
“the most staunch anti-McCarty and Thompson factions of the Packers fanbase”
They are called Queens fans! They are so pathetic that it’s impossible to not feel sorry for them.
QQ Finley, you won the game, isn’t that talking enough?
Begging for fines just makes you look like a puss, in my opinion.
Delmas is young and will make mistakes. He was penalized. Get over it!
Uh-oh, someone call the waaaaaaaahhhhhhmbulance! You play football, get over it.
Dude led with his helmet and hit Finley square in the chin. Should have been ejected.
How was Finley going to get him back? “I’m going to BLOCK you!”
They are turning the NFL into the National Fag League, you can’t hit a QB anymore, and can’t whack a receiver coming over the middle either! Back in the 80′s, you made a WR pay for catching a ball in the middle, but nowadays you can’t hit a “defenseless receiver” WHAT A JOKE! Get used to it Packer fans, because this kid will make you pay for it for many years to come!
Just like in hockey, keep your head on a swivel man!
Something tells me Mr. Delmas may be a little lighter in the wallet after this weekend thanks to Mr. Goodell.
“Get used to it Packer fans, because this kid will make you pay for it for many years to come!”
Yeah, just like he did today. LOL 34-12 against the Lions 32 ranked pass defense. If it’s gonna be like that, im looking forward to these “many years to come.”

So the ball flys over the receiver’s head, Delmas (who is a good 7 yards away from the play) leads with his helmet to Finley’s chin, and that’s a joke for you. Or maybe for you it’s not football until someone is in a coma. Let’s have a look at those players from the 80s in a decade and see how they are doing. To tell you truth you’re a prime example of the “good old days” and must have taken a few blows to your head judging from your post.
And actually Delmas will be the one who will pay, i’d say about 25 Grand.
As far as Delmas making the Packers pay, judging by the score and offensive production I’d say it was Rodgers and Green Bay’s receivers that made him pay. All day
Happy Thanksgiving Moron!
I am sure glad the Packers puff part of their schedule it over so we can quit hearing them talk smack.
In all likelihood, this was their LAST win of the season. I really can’t see them winning any of their remaining games. Then the Sackers will go back into their dark hole.
But Fudgepackers should be happy with a 7-9 record, it is an improvement from last year. And please, don’t even start to talk about playoffs.
Redwing-
Did you even see the hit. It was a clear cheap and illegal hit. He stood above Finley and danced around like he was the shit also. The guy should be fined. It has nothing to do with the refs calling too many flags. Maybe you should take a look at the phantom roughing the passer call earlier in the game on Clay Matthews….he barely touched him.
WTF are you people talking about? Delmas broke a rule and AFAIK, it’s a fine-able play.
I think the Packers showed good discipline in not retaliating with their own dirty play.
Puss? Fag? Is this sixth grade? Is this the MSNBC crowd? I don’t remember such utter lack of imagination prior to the move…
redwing,
You’re dumb. Three things:
First, that team hasn’t beaten us in eons and we’re certainly not afraid of the kind of performance he showed us today or anything else they could throw at us. Nobody is.
Second, the ball was way past him. had he caught it the hit would have looked a lot like your glorious ’80s. Hitting a player that late, that hard, and that intentionally has always been illegal.
Lastly, if you’re gong to say some as stupid and offensive as ‘National Fag League’, don’t follow it up with a comment about ‘whacking’ a receiver who’s ‘coming’ from somewhere.
I have to agree with Rodgers that he shouldn’t have been dancing around after the play. I didn’t care so much that he jacked up Finley, but that he led with his head. If he would have leveled him with a shoulder which he had plenty of time to do, I would have been happy with the 15 yds and call it a day.
And suddenly the Packers are 7-4 with winable games against Baltimore and Pittsburgh on the schedule. I’m not say8ing they’ll win those games, but a month ago that looked like 2 losses for sure.
HIS NAME IS FINLEY, AND HE DOESN’T LOVE TO FIGHT!!
Finley jumped – should rule out helmet to helmet contact.
If Delmas would have gotten there a split second sooner he would have nailed him in the chest.
“I am sure glad the Packers puff part of their schedule it over so we can quit hearing them talk smack.”
When are the Vikings over with theirs?
I don’t think Delmas was trying to lead with the helmet. If you watch the play, he’s trying to get his shoulder around and it’s unfortunate that Finley took one on the chin.
That said, Delmas was late on the play, but if the ball was on the mark he probably knocks it loose. It’s one of those split second plays, I highly doubt he had any intention of headhunting or attempting to injure Finley.
On a side note, the league usually frowns upon players talking about “payback” and Finley should watch what he says or he might end up a few bucks lighter too.
Smackmyvickup of course Finley is going to jump the pass was high, if Delmas was in better position he would have been there a sooner, the BIG thing in this is that it looked like he started to launch himself into Finley I know it wasn’t much of a launch but he could have ran straight threw him without going upward at all and I think it would have been a clean football play. Thats my opinion, and I am sick of the people playing strength of schedule car, we play who the NFL tells, we don’t get to pick who we play, we have won most of the games we should have, no shame in losing to the Bengals they are a pretty respectable team, and the Vikings have a good thing going as it pains me to say it. I hope that Buccs game we had no business losing doesn’t wind up costing us a chance at the playoffs, but the drop off from the wild card and the rest of the pack does look favorable for GB especially if the NFC East can whoop up on the GMen the next few weeks.
I love how all these tough-guy fans talk about the “good old days” of football as though they played it themselves past Pop Warner. Seriously, redwing, you’re probably some pot-bellied 40-year-old living in his momma’s basement who couldn’t go for a walk around the block without having a heart attack.
Delmas is a goon…been missing in Detroit if not IN ALL OF FOOTBALL
very refreshing…f$%k the rule..PLAY ON….the leauge will be much better for it. How else do you explain those ridiculous celebrations Donald Driver did after big catches (jesus) – wished Delmas wouldve knocked him the f#3k out, too.
Gotta love the Lions and Raiders. Both teams getting blown out, yet they’ve got guys doing sack dances and yapping. No wonder they’re losers. They can’t read a scoreboard.
The Packers are going to win any of these games?:
Ravens
@Steelers
@Bears
Seahawks
@Cards
They need to hold serve at home, and then 1 out of 3 against the Steelers/Bears/Cards will get them in. Hopefully the Bears and Cards will have nothing to play for, and the way the Packers defense is playing right now, do you really think it would be that big of a surprise if the beat a battered Pittsburgh team right now?
I’d love another crack at Brent right now.

Hey you’re a classy guy! Hoping for someone to get knocked out, wow you’re not ignorant!
BTW,
Driver – 7 receptions for 142 yard and a TD. If you don’t want him to dance them stop him. Delmas celebrated an incomplete pass. Driver celebrated after completely dominating the Detroit secondary, that’s the difference
I’d love another crack at Brent right now.

What? 2 ass whippings aren’t enough for you?
Btw, what makes you think 10 is the “magic” number to get in the playoffs?
Besides that, that schedule looks to be 2-3 for the pack anyway, possible 1-4 if the Bears show up for the game.
After losing to the Bucs, you’d think Pack fans wouldn’t count their chickens before they hatch, but, I guess beating a powerhouse like the Lions fills you up with bravado.
The packer players sound like a bunch of women. Yes the play deserved a pentalty but come on it wasnt dirty. Last year that play wasnt even illegal so you cant expect people that played a certian way all of their life to be able to change just like that. Of course it was offensive players complaining about it and not a defensive player, because a defensive player would be imbarassed to call that play dirty.
Also watch the play Delmas hit him with his shoulder in the chest first and then made helmet to helmet contact. That is still a penalty but you can tell he wasnt trying to hit him in the head.
I hate when players complain about if a play was dirty or not right after the game. If they want to call it dirty the next day fine but dont say anything until you’ve had time to watch the replay, because things look different when their happening live.
Kind of equlizes that ridiculous RTP call against Matthews. His hand just grazed the side of Staffords head
10 wins ABSOLUTELY gets you a Wild Card in the NFC, end of story…
“There is a long way to go, but even the most staunch anti-McCarty and Thompson factions of the Packers fanbase has to feel a lot better than they did three weeks ago. ”
SLIGHTLY better at least. As a card-carrying member of one of said factions, I’ll say that if most of us Tedhaters are anything, it’s realistic. This team could make the playoffs. This team could also be 6-10 again.
Anyone that is guaranteeing this team will make a postseason run, knock the Vikings out of the playoffs, or still have Thompson at the helm six months from now is completely delusional. That kind of attitude does nothing more than set them up for disappointment. We have to take it one game at a time and see what happens.
its ok pack83…the pack won’t get 10 wins anyway.

Thank you for that, you just increased our chances this year. Your Pack predictions are so often wrong, you saying they won’t get ten wins makes me think they probably will now.
…but at least you have the balls to MAKE predictions, instead of hiding behind some pathetic “I know nothing” scapegoat. Definite respect for that.
Beer: My “predictions” are solely to rattle cages.
My prediction: Fagnar slips on his purple footies and dreams of bobbing his blonde braided hair up and down in Favre’s lap… Again.
