NFL Network apologizes for Josh McDaniels expletive

Matthew Stafford showed how awesome a mic’d up segment can be this week.

And NFL Network just showed on Thursday Night Football why it’s good to edit material before putting it on the air.

After the Broncos committed three false starts in one red zone trip, NFL Network showed Broncos coach Josh McDaniels addressing his team on the sideline. (UPDATE: An earlier version of this story said McDaniels was wearing a wire. He was not.)

“All we’re trying to do is win a motherf--king game!” McDaniels screamed before the audio was cut off.

The Broncos kicked a field goal, and NFL Network’s Bob Papa apologized for the “F” bomb faux pas when the game returned after a break.

I’ve been a huge fan of the network’s programming since Day One and I think they do incredible work on the whole. (I can’t imagine not having access to it.) But NFL Network has endured a brutal stretch of technical problems during games this season.

The network has often been at its worst during game broadcasts, when it has the most at stake. And when the most NFL owners are watching.

I wonder how many of them will remember moments like tonight when the next Thursday night television package is up for bid.
