On Thursday, the Chargers received a 24-hour extension to sell the 3,500 remaining non-premium tickets for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs.
On Friday, the NFL gave the Chargers another 24-hour extension to move 1,350 remaining tickets.
Two extensions are unusual, but not unprecedented. Last year, the Vikings received two 24-hour extensions to sell out a wild-card playoff game. In 2001, the Dolphins received two 24-hour extensions for a wild-card game, too. Minnesota successfully sold out the Metrodome; Miami failed to sell enough tickets to permit their game against the Ravens to be televised locally.
The Chargers have sold out 44 straight regular-season and postseason games.
Let’s do it Bolts!!!
$100 tickets in the nose bleed section. Not really an economic issue, good seats sell fast, just sh**ty seats that are overpriced.
$100 can buy pizza, wings and beer at the bar. You could probably catch the Bears curb stomping Favre and the Vikings on a side TV as well.
Everyone rips the Vikings for their potential blackout of their wild-card game last year. How about the Dolphins who were actually blacked out. Actually who gives crap at all. This isn’t news. Maybe everyone should come on here and say they should move the Chargers to LA.
Next they will get an extension until halftime.
chargers and phins in LA, there ya go. smackmyvickup, got your kleenex ready you punk?
Vikes#28Owns,
Um..not sure if you noticed, but a crap regular season game against an opponent they should kill isn’t really supposed to draw a large crowd. A playoff game should be easily sold out.
As for the Fins in ’01, I was 13, and have no clue what was going on at the time and why they didn’t sell out.
why the hell does everybody think moving teams to LA will solve the problems … they have one of the worst set of supporters in my opinion, the crowds there are busy texting rather than following their teams
Seriously? what is the point in even having a deadline of friday night. Just make it Saturday at noon and no exceptions. Obviously there are certain cities that are just not big places for football.
Wait a sec here……
In a tough economic era, MN Vikings did in fact fail to sell out a wild card game on time, but did so after extensions were granted.
During a time when lots of people were making money hand over fist, Miami also failed to sell out a wild card game on time, and with two extensions still couldn’t do it.
LA Dolphins anyone? Makes as much sense as some idiots reasoning for the Vikes to go there (BTW neither team is going anywhere)
The LA Stadium has had over 105,000 applications for season tickets.
The Dolphins would be a perfect fit for Los Angeles. There is a strong fan base and lots of stars follow this team
Also better weather. No hot humid early games.
The Los Angeles Dolphins sounds great. They would sell this stadium completely out.
