in this tough economy, even the rooneys run out of cash to pay the refs.

PFT The P stands for (Pittsburgh or Patriots, pick it)
You can get the # 3 qb to throw two picks and throw for 160 yards.
The difference maker is Troy, not Ben. Steelers win in spite of Ben, not because of him. Check the stats of most big games they play in.
Then, check the stats when Troy is in vs out.

  3. rydendonkeys says: Nov 27, 2009 2:08 PM

They can’t be teams with QBs that don’t turn the ball over.
Big wins over Kurt Warner and the Cards, Farve and the Vikings, and even Flacco, all keyed off big turnovers, and defensive touchdowns.
The Steeler offense is not good enough to outscore other teams without the defense scoring themselves.
As we have seen with Carson beating them twice.
    And even *GAG* Matt Cassell.
Face it, the Steelers STOLE the last ring when Peyton choked vs the Chargers, Brady was hurt, and they walked over an 8-8 Charger team only there because the Chiefs and Dwayne Bowe can’t catch a cold or an onside kick, because they got a gift rookie QB in the AFC title game, and then a victory over a 9-7 Cardinal team…

  4. Dunn says: Nov 27, 2009 2:11 PM

No one talks about the turnovers or lack their of. Steelers are going into the 11th game of the season and neither cornerback has 1 interception. This is unprecedented for a season to go this long without a turnover from cornerbacks.

Steelers will win out and shock the world they
will win their 3rd Superbowl in 5 years.
    Go Steelers!

    Rydendonkeys…
Your bitterness over the whooping we layed on you is sad. And BTW, the offense is good enough to outscore other teams. It’s a shame that our OC doesn’t know how to RUN our offense. That makes a world of difference. See you next year, after the Steelers win the tie breaker to keep your pathetic Donco’s out of the post season. My god….do you see Steeler fans trolling Donco’s stories making stupid, asinine comments? No, we know we have a lot more to worry about right now. Unlike you idiots, who can’t see to get over the fact your team was, and still may be, overhyped.

  7. Citizen Strange says: Nov 27, 2009 2:29 PM

The reason that Roethlisberger has somany fourth quarter combacks is that usually the Steeler defense is so good that the 6-13 sweet points that Roethlisberger hangs during the first three quarters sets it up for a win if the Steelers can get even a field goal in the fourth quarter.
Typical Roethlisberger come from behind wins are 17-14. He isn’t winning any shootouts.
He had good stats against the Chargers/Browns/Lions but only put up decent points against the Chargers.
Roethlisberger does NOT lead the Steelers to a lot of scores. Usually the Steeler defense has to score for the Steelers to get a win.

This has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever read.
Vox’s tarded mommy – “And BTW, the offense is good enough to outscore other teams. It’s a shame that our OC doesn’t know how to RUN our offense”.
This is extremely stupid in more ways I can count.
    1. The OC is the offense, he designs, he runs it, he calls the plays. Maybe you mean the personel, bottomline, that’s just moronic.
    2. Now you are saying the OC doesn’t know how to run his offense? I guess you do though…LMFAO
How the hell does the OC not know how to run the offense. What is he doing wrong? Not allowing the defenses free shots on Big Ben so he can scramble and make plays around his porous O-line like in the playoffs and SB?
    Give me a break.
The offense is good enough to score except the OC isn’t calling the right plays, like the ones that score pts right…ERRRRRRRRRR
Maybe it was Big Ben hitting that LB in the hands in the redzone!!! DOH!!!!

  11. i'm president charlie! says: Nov 27, 2009 3:19 PM

rydendonkeys – like the Steelers could’ve controlled who they played in the playoffs! You sir are a moron. If “ifs and “ands” were pots and pans this world would be a kitchen.
Here is something mind blowing for everyone….it takes an entire team effort to win a game!! I know, i know, mind numbing information.
In rydendonkeys’ mind it takes one player or one side of the ball (whether defense or offense) to win a game. Well, here is some more groundbreaking information for your pea brain….it takes offense, defense, AND special teams to win games in the NFL!!!!
Please come back again for more football 101.

  12. rydendonkeys says: Nov 27, 2009 3:22 PM

Citizen strange said it too Vox.
Notice how FLORIO says WE when talking about the Steelers, came out real easy…
    lol

  13. rydendonkeys says: Nov 27, 2009 3:29 PM

Resident Charlie – that had nothing to do with what I am saying. Of course it takes all 3 phases to win, the Steelers barely got by the Vikings because the sucked in 2 of three phases!!!
You are only proving my point, they only won on two defensive touchdowns vs the Vikings!!!
They can’t beat upper echelon teams without them!!!
    Thanks for proving my point.
    Hasta la vista

  14. apage53915 says: Nov 27, 2009 3:32 PM

I think the Steelers are a good team, but we will really see how good a coach Tomlin is, he took over a team that was totally built by Cowher and he has been living off that for the last few years, those days are about to end.

  15. SmackMyVickUp says: Nov 27, 2009 3:52 PM

Da’ Bears were the first team to expose the defending champs as frauds. 17-14

  16. Vox's Mommy says: Nov 27, 2009 3:55 PM

    dude….ryden…..
Your personell doesn’t matter when your OC doesn’t know how to utilize them!! Thats the fact of the matter. It comes down to game strategy. Not so much play calling. We’ve abandoned the run way too many times this year when we’ve had no reason to. In the Chiefs game in OT, Mendenhall had approx 36 yards on 4 carries and we’re moving the ball. Then on a 3rd and 1, for god only knows why, we put in Moore for a sweep?!?!? Not a screen or draw, but a sweep?!? He’s the slowest of all 3 of our backs!!! We’ve made poor play calls on 3rd and short inside the 10 yard line on more than a few occassions. I’m not the only one calling for a new OC in the offseason. Watch more than a couple Steeler games and you’d know exactly what I’m talking about. Ben DID have poor games the past two weeks, but notice how each game still came down to the wire (without Troy). It’s not every single series that’s called poorly, but the overall game strategy that is lacking. I’m actually disappointed in Tomlin for allowing some of these things to happen. Am I calling for his (Tomnlin’s) head? No, not in any way…but I do want the OC (Arians) gone. And as I said before, I’m not the only one. You claim to have all the answers, are you watching more of the Steelers/AFC North than you are your own team/division? You probably are b/c you team/division is sorry.
And I take it that by you saying my “comment was stupid in more ways that you can count” you mean you can’t count to 2??? Doesn’t surprise me coming from someone in dat der Denver Colyrawdo!! LOL…you really are stupid.
    56lightsout….
I’m certainly not meaning to take any blame off the players, Hines said it best when he said no matter what’s called you have to execute. He is exactly right. I’m just of the opinion that our overall offensive strategy and playcalling in certain game situations have put the offense, and in turn, the Defense, in less than optimal situations. Especially late in games. And how exactly did my comment blame “everyone but my own team”???? Last time I checked the OC IS PART OF THE TEAM SLICK!!!!! So, by all means, I DID blame someone on the team. As I said the players aren’t innocent in this either. They’re not playing with any heart.
But of course, the Steeler haters here will contine to proclaim from the mountain tops that we know nothing and that our team sucks, while unwittingly making themselves the hypocrites b/c they are obviously the know-it-all’s.

  17. Deb says: Nov 27, 2009 4:01 PM

    @apage53915 …
Not completely true. Tomlin took over a team built by Cowher, Kevin Colbert, and Dick LeBeau. Colbert and LeBeau are still there, and Tomlin’s made his own adjustments over the last three years. The wall of protection that accompanied Harrison on his INT runback in the Super Bowl was a direct result of specific coaching by Tomlin based on some of his previous experiences. That INT/runback created a 14-point swing that secured the championship. LOVE Bill Cowher and he was a great coach. But he was no Chuck Noll. He fell short in some areas.
Tomlin isn’t living on Cowher. It’s his team now. But he does have a tough road head. LeBeau and D-line coach Johnny Mitchell are close to retiring. We have issues on O-line and Special Teams that must be addressed. Arians has done some great play-calling and some idiotic play-calling. I don’t think he’ll fire Arians because he has a winning record and a SB ring. But he needs to direct the OC to call a more balanced game. You’re right–we’re soon going to find out how good Tomlin really is at managing these tough decisions.

  18. Vox's Mommy says: Nov 27, 2009 4:13 PM

According to Rydendonkeys logic then the Steelers defensive strategy had NOTHING to do with the Vikings offense underperforming in that game HAHAHA. Just like the strong play of the Vikings defense had nothing to do with holding the Steelers offense completely in check. OF COURSE THE TURNOVERS ARE WHY THEY WON THE GAME GENIUS!!! The Vikings defense, although they played extremely well, couldn’t make the big plays that the Steelers defense did in the end. When you have a game when both Defenses are playing well and the offenses aren’t doing much, your D has to make plays. The Steelers defense did and The Vike’s didn’t. LOGIC MUCH!?!?

  19. fellasheowed says: Nov 27, 2009 4:26 PM

    its real simple
    number 1 defense
    number 6 offense
this accounts for the positives on the steelers ledger
    25th in turnover/takeaway
4 kickoff returns for td’s against, teams scoring a non-offensive td against us in 8 straight games.
a disporportionate amount of our turnovers on offense happen in the redzone, costing us further points.
add it all up, it adds up to 6-4 a team that can beat the vikings and chargers(who got a gift td, on a bad refs call keying their comeback, but hey don’t want to introduce reality or nuance to the espnheads mantra that we own the refs..) but lose to the cheifs, bears, and blow games vs the bengals…we are what we are, no refs required…
unlike many other teams, broncos included, our problems are fixable, though surely nothing is guaranteed.

  20. rydendonkeys says: Nov 27, 2009 4:49 PM

Vox”s tarded mommy – So you are now agreeing with me that the Steelers won that game vs the Vikings because of the defensive turnovers, that much was obvious. And it’s also the only way they can beat quality QBs, which is what I have been saying.
They won’t beat Peyton, Brady, or Palmer in the playoffs because the offense is not good enough to score against those QBs, without the defense coming up with wild turnovers returned for 6 pts.
And vs the Vike’s it actually took 2 of them to get the W, further proving my pt. Vs the Chiefs, none, L. Vs the Bengals, none L and L.
    Bears none L.
    Cards 1 and W.
Go watch you’re highlight real from last year, enjoy it, it’s not happening again until the Steelers get Serious about protecting the QB.

I agree with you president charlie. the woulda shoulda couldas dont amount to much. you nailed it . Football is a team sport..
Deb , great posts as always :)
Vox’s Mommy. Great posts from you also.
Dont think I need to add more I think you girls took care of it.
fellasheowed , great post and you are right they are what they are and their problems are fixable and I think that is what worries people. They know how to bounce back, and bounce back I believe they will.

rydenmanmeat – teams that play turnover-free football win games in the nfl!!!????!!! defensive touchdowns help win games!!???!! Please teach me more.
The Steelers’ offense never-ever-ever have and never will have anything to do with winning a game. And giving up special teams touchdowns on the regular have nothing to do with the Steelers’ losses. I hear Ben would officially like to thank the defense for all of his game winning drives.
Kyle Orton Super Bowl MVP…..I can see it now!

  23. Vox's Mommy says: Nov 27, 2009 5:39 PM

    RydenDoncos&Elwaysmanmeat….(goone one Prezcharlie)
Go watch your reels from the only 3 years your franchise was good. That’s all you have to live on. Your QB is gone and that old man was the only shot you had. Now he’s gone, your sorry offense has been exposed for what it is, and your season will fold and close up by the end of it all. Say what you want, I make sense with POINTS and logic, you hurl insults, call names, and say things with no fact behind it. We already beat Peyton in the playoffs. And we have been beating Palmer for a while now. Brady is the only guy we have lost to in big games. And SO WHAT if we needed two plays from our D to win the Vike’s game??? They needed a kickoff return to even stay in the game!!! A win is a win, just like your sad Doncos’ needed a FLUKE tipped pass to land into Stokley’s hands to win your season opener. Your lame and hypocritical. I can argue all day with rational people, and even irrational. But when you have a guy (YOU) who’s comments contradict HIS OWN TEAMS success, it’s kind of sad to read. You poor thing…you don’t even realize your’e doing it!!
