The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have headed to Atlanta for Sunday's game against the Falcons.
Demoted defensive coordinator Jim Bates didn't make the trip.
Initially, it appeared that Bates would stay with the team. Coach Raheem Morris has since suggested that Bates might not be sticking around.
"It's still a wait-and-see deal," Morris said. "We're working together."
The Bucs likely hope that Bates will quit, so that the won't have to pay him. If they fire him, they'll have to pay him.
Bates not traveling with Bucs

If I were norman I would want off that train wreck as well
What a cluster fudge down there. Tampa is going to be hard pressed to attract any decent coordinators with the way they are treating Bates and the already departed Jags. Ra-Ra sure has a napolean complex going for him
Florio,
You're the legal guy (at least in a prior life). Even if Bates left the team couldn't he claim contructive dismissal because they dramatically changed his job function?
I believe legal precedent has been sent from the Costanza v. Play Now standoff of 1997.
George won.
"my baby rides the morning train"
Radio Morris really needs to fire himself. He's the worst HC in the NFL.
@roe
LMFAO. Costanza does indeed set the precedent.
George: "You know, they think I'm handicapped."
Jerry: "--But you're NOT handicapped"
George: "Let's face it, Jerry. I've always been handicapped, and I'm just now getting the credit for it."
Hey Steelfloor....why dont' you worry about why you can't beat the Chiefs...idiot
Raheem the Dream is gonna be fine. Morris is gonna get it right. All the haters of Morris need to lay off the guy. Tony Dungy's first year wasn't the best.(but it wasn't this bad) Give the man time.
